I think you have to go with the best in the game. Geno. :)
But don't they usually NOT have the same coaches two Olympics in a row? How about Jen, she did a good job with the young kids this year.

Think they have a couple of years to decide and I agree it should not be doubled up...unless Huskies win next 3 years.:)

They won't have the same coach two cycles in a row...who knows if Geno would even want to do it again? It's a big time commitment...

I could see Mulkey in the running. By that point she will have coached a few players who should be in the pros, she has strong ties with former coaches (Anne Donovan, Pat Summitt) and I could see them going with a woman after having a man coach.

Coaching the Olympics is an honor - they never have repeat coaches, wanting to spread it around.

Jen is talented, but I would never give the job to a non-major coach.
And she's too young. Only be ~41 in 2016.

Coach K is coaching the mens team two Olympics in a row, wouldn't surprise me if Geno wins the Gold, they'll offer it to him again.

I suspect Geno will be asked to coach again. The precedent was set by Coach K for hiring Geno in the first place and keeping Coach K for a second cycle paves the way for Geno to be retained as well.

How involved has Mulkey been involved with USA Basketball?

Other than playing? I don't think she has been. Geno would be my choice, of course, but I could see them going with someone else, also.

I definitely think the situation in the men's game has opened the door for the committee to offer a second 4 year contract to Geno (if he wins gold.) If they do not offer to Geno (or if he passed, which I doubt he would) then I think they would look for someone who has been a coach or assistant on a previous USA basketball team - USA basketball honors loyalty in players and coaches - so I think that might hinder an offer to someone like Kim who I don't think has coached at any level with USABB.
I would expect them to look for a woman after Geno, and while I think Jen would certainly get some consideration, the issue with mid-major is as much on the coaches side - they do not tend to have the support staff in their college program to allow them to 'be away' as easily as the major college programs. The senior team is a bigger time commitment because of its four year appointment vs. the lower levels that are brought in yearly for single competitions.
I do think Geno is a 50% proposition to get a second contract - his system is very adaptable to changing players, he has worked with so many of the players before, and the players do really seem to enjoy him as their coach.
