So on the strength of a few strong relief appearances with no control problems, Montgomerie is back in the weekend starting rotation and Rossomando is out. Assuming Montgomerie does well on Sunday, the next question is who gets the two upcoming weekday starts. I would think one of the starts will go to Nepiarsky, and I would guess at this point the other spot would either be Zapata or Rossomando. Rossomando did have some good relief appearances earlier in the season, while I don't think Zapata has ever done all that well out of the bullpen.

>>Behind a three-RBI performance from freshman OF John Toppa(Portsmouth, R.I.), the UConn baseball team opened up its American Athletic Conference regular season slate with a 9-4 win over No. 27 Tulane on Friday, April 1 at J.O. Christian Field. With the victory, UConn pushes its winning-streak to four straight and moves to 13-11 overall, while the Green Wave fall to 18-8.

The Huskies move to 4-2 all-time against the Green Wave and collect their second-straight conference-opening win.<<

The two teams will play a Saturday doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. due to forecasted inclement weather in the Storrs area on Sunday afternoon.

Excellent performance, but we need to take at least one game tomorrow for it to truly mean something.

Tweeted at one of Baseball America's staff writers who was at yesterday's game to ask what where Kay could potentially be picked. He responded with late 1st-early 2nd. That would be phenomenal for both Anthony himself and the program.

He was getting lotsa props from the D1 Baseball and Baseball America folks who were @ game until that one fateful inning.

I left game not that long ago. Tough day for uconn as if the score wasn't bad enough it actually looked 10 times worse in person. Bats struggled early, relief pitching got bombed and defense was sloppy. Good news it just goes down as one loss. Happy they are not playing a second game today. Word has it game three will try to be squeezed in at noon tomorrow.
