Impressive that he is the top receiver in the state of IL and UCONN beat out these schools for his services

It's obvious why him and diaco clicked. Both super excited about football.
Those are definitely the kind of kids Diaco is after, especially when he talks about wanting to LOVE football. Hard to be great at something your heart isn't into so it definitely makes sense.

First day of practice: Quayvon Skanes moves to QB for Phillips
http://highschoolcubenews.com/2015/08/10/first-day-practice-quayvon-skanes-moves-qb-phillips/

>>Quayvon Skanes is taking one for the team this season. The senior wide receiver, a Connecticut recruit, is stepping in and replacing 2014 Sun-Times Player of the Year Dewayne Collins at quarterback for Phillips. “I’m ready for it,” said Skanes. “My dad was talking about it happening all offseason so I had thought about it. I wouldn’t say I’m happy about it since I’m not a quarterback, but I have to step up and do what the team needs. I have to just suck it up and play quarterback.”

>>Skanes was in the same situation back in eighth grade. Collins moved on to high school and Skanes stepped in at quarterback for the Little Wildcats. “A lot of us came up together and watched him go through that then so we have a lot of faith in him,” said senior defensive tackle Chris Elmore. “He’s making a sacrifice for the team.” Phillips coach Troy McAllister figures having the ball in Skanes’ hands 50-60 times a year is a special thing, so it’s worth having him make the transition.<<

#UConn commit Quayvon Skanes runs for 2 TDs, throws for 2 more in season-opening win
http://runwayramblings.blogspot.com/2015/08/good-start-for-uconn-commit.html

>>UConn commit Quayvon Skanes accounted for four touchdowns in his first game as the starting quarterback as Chicago's Phillips Academy High School opened the 2015 season with a 40-16 win over Fenwick.
I did not see stats for Skanes but he had two scoring runs, including one of 80 yards and also threw touchdown passes of 30 and 12 yards.<<
