One more staying home to proteCT the Rent!#UConnFootball(w/ paws)

Jack is a 6-5, 314lb OL/DL from Valley Regional High School in Deep River CT.

It was confirmed that Gianconia was on campus this weekend. AK @ TOS is reporting that he is on board but I haven't seen any other confirmation (and it appears JG doesn't have a large social media presence). Unknown if scholarship or PWO, although likely the latter at this point)

Do they normally put the paw prints out for PWO's?

HCBD has made more of a big deal about PWO than predecessor... it was reported a few weeks back that Allmendinger was a PWO and then tweets w/ paws today after visit. Guess they could go either way - will find out on Wednesday I guess.

Diaco sure does like taking size first. The competition in that league is bottom of CT, which is really saying something. He looks like he has good football instincts, though.

Yeah, this was batted around on the Recruiting Board when it became known he was visiting. He's only been playing football for 4 years. Give him a few years w/ Balis - can't teach inherent size or toughness

>>Speaking of being a powerhouse, Jack isn’t just a star on the football field—he’s also one of the strongest people to ever walk the halls at Valley Regional High School. Jack holds the total weight record at the school based on a weightlifting event that has four categories in the squat, power clean, dead-lift, and bench press. Jack’s combined total in the four is 1,600 pounds and he can squat an amazing 500.

“He’s a weight room warrior and I’m a stickler when it comes to squatting, so his 500 pounds is legitimate,” says Valley football Head Coach Tim King. “Jack is a hard-working son-of-a-gun and an absolute pleasure to coach. He’s just such a great kid. Obviously, he’s huge, but he doesn’t just rely on his size. He’s smart, has a presence, is a tremendous captain and leader. To come back from what was supposed to be a season-ending injury that he had and make an impact in the state championship game just shows his work ethic is second to none.”<<

Thats two of my alma mater in back-to-back years. First Chris Jean Pierre(CJP) and now Gianconia. Valley might be a small-pop school but has put out 3-4 D1'ers in the past couple years, as well as a few D3 All-Americans like Jimmy Fairfield-Sonn. Mitch King went to an Ivy and is currently in a NFL camp.

Kinger was my coach when I matriculated through and though he was just building the program in those years, he is a regimented, by-the-book kinda guy. You don't play unless you have your Shot in order and his offensive and defensive systems are college-ready, sophisticated techniques. The one thing you know about Valley kids are they will play hard and smart.

Talked to someone last year about him, and said he was basically Gilbert Brown of packers fame. He's probably not going to go anywhere very fast, but you aren't going to be moving him anywhere fast, either.

Happy to see Valley turn some kids out for state U.

Saw him versus Ellington this year and he is huge in person. Didn't impact the game but he was easily the biggest kid on the field. His High School has a winning program, so he comes from a good background. Doesn't hurt to take a flyer and see what you have after the redshirt year.

Best place to find hidden gems is on the line...great size against inferior competition. He is so big he can get away with a very stiff, upright rush. If they teach some technique and he works on foot speed you could be one of the diamonds that shines. Welcome aboard and keep working hard!

I've only seen Valley twice over the last few years (semi-final loss against Brookfield and state title win vs. Ansonia) and what they lacked in talent/numbers they made up for it in toughness and some good schemes. He is running a good program there considering how small their rosters are.

Raw, but as has been written, he is a beast in the weightroom. Which tells me he puts in the work. As a NG his job will be to take on two blockers and hold his ground. Looks like he can develop into rotational player.

Sounds like a competitor with some potential. For sure they're looking at him putting in some time to develop and maybe redistribute physically but this could work out even if he becomes a situational player at first. We're in a situation where the RKG is worth a shot. I like the thought process of getting a big strong young man in here.
Welcome aboard Big Jack!

He could play on either side of the line at either nose or guard. The thing I like is his size which is a must for UConn moving forward
