New recruits for Duke and ND + some revisions to the ASGR rankings (outside top 20) lead to some movement:

No HS recruits that I'm aware of for USF, but they may have gotten transfers or internationals.

The players are
#126 WF Maya Benham, GA
#173 PF Chyanna Canada, NY
#188 F Taylor Emery, FL
#242 C Crystal Polk, OK

Thanks vowelguy!! I'm interested in the top 4 spots. All post players. I feel like when one verbals the rest will fall into place. Texas also has a ton of post players for 2016 as well.

Well UConn certainly may not have the number one class in the rankings but they do have the best most top 15 players in a class.

For UConn it's about getting the best players that fills their needs for the coming years and not necessarily about getting the best overall class

Generally they end up with a top-class or one of the top classes every year yet that's not an accolade that they seek out.

Lets change the formula a little using the "top 4" teams. If a team usually goes 8 or 9 deep in a rotation you only need 2 or 3 great players per class. If they do this every year they will win many games. the currant system rewards depth over talent. Add up the rankings of a teams top 3 recruits (players most likely to impact the game using a ranking system I know is far from a true indicator of how a player will work out) and the team with the lowest # has the most talent. Uconn has players 1. 4, & 12. My system gives them a score of 17. ND would score 28, Louisville 53, and Duke 62. Only count players in the top 100 for impact. TX has 6, 9, and 122, and like I said since you only need 2 or 3 players per class their top 2 are tied with ND's top 2 for 2nd best class. I'd take TX class over KY any day. The 2 player classes at TN, UCLA, & MD would also beat KY. I'm making my formula up as I go so feel free to give advise on tweaking it. I may need to add a variable for the supposed impact of a top 10 vs #'s 11-20, 21 -30, Ect. Since I can't think of a team that won a title without at least 1 All American, a top 10 player needs to have greater impact on a classes ranking.

VG I'm sure you have resigned yourself to the fact that your algorithm will always be wrong as long as it doesn't show UCONN having the #1 class :p

So I did some quick playing around with your top 10, to make it come out "right". To simplify I only considered the top 3 recruits (your composite rankings) for each school, since some only have 3. I just added the rankings for all 3 recruits and lowest score wins. This must be right because it shows UCONN having the #1 class:

However this penalizes Texas's killer recruiting class because their 3rd player is #122...

So I did some simple weighting, adding together the rankings for only the top recruit from each school, the sum of the rankings of the top 2 recruits for each school, and the sum of the rankings for all 3. This weights the top recruit most, and the 2nd more than the 3rd. It still must be "right" because UCONN still wins:

Now Texas's excellent class is recognized. Only counting 3 recruits penalizes Duke for their very deep 5-player class, but I don't care about them.

Seriously VG, you have undertaken a thankless task - very much appreciate it!

Gettign the number 1 recruit for example has ot be "huge." Fo rexample let's look at UCONN's last 4 number 1 recruits-

Tina
Maya
KML
Stewie

How many of the number 1 recruits would we trade for a 19/32/33/34? Would you trade one these husky all-time greats for 4 players roughly 19/32/33/34? Nope. Players number 1 and for the heck of it to not be a total homer just say 1-3 (instead of 4) - they are freaky great and deserve at leatsthe number 1 should - desrve a lot more love over volume. And when you team a number 1 recruit with a number 4 and number 12 you've just made the number 1 recruit a much better player thus will impact the game exponentially.

I would go with the following top 4:

1-- UCONN
2--- Louiville
3-- ND
4-- Texas

Having the number 1 recruit does have an impact but when is that impact. With Tina it took a couple of years, however with KML Maya and Stewie is didn't take as long. They had an immediate impact and a lot of that had to do with the players surrounding them. The players surrounding them were experienced and that is what I keep referring to as the nucleus. This year for example Duke has some great players but their nucleus graduated (approx. 5 starters). Next Season Tenn losing a lot and Diamond is eligible. If Tenn has an experienced nucleus Tenn has a good chance to make the FF if not they wont. The biggest key to UConns winning is maintaining their experienced nucleus. They have it this season and should next season and UConn has also been able to maintain a key go to player. This season its KML and Stewart. Next season its Stewart and the following season it could be......we will have to wait and see.

Next season UConn will have 8 underclassmen. I think the gist of what you're saying is UConn will have Stewart and nobody else will.
