Just saw on Twitter that the 2012-2013 schedule is being finalized this week.

In other news, I really can't wait to see what Nike has in store for uniforms this season. Geno tweeted a while back that he was in Oregon at Nike and was seeing some really innovative stuff. Hopefully it was for UCONN, in addition to USA basketball.

Speaking of Uniforms, what is the advantage of the long shorts? Are they really more comfortable then say the Australian or Brazilian uniforms that feature the shorter pants? Were the longer pants designed to compensate for the different body types?

You're presuming too much intelligent design (to borrow a phrase) in the design.

It's fashion. The men and women's trends are in sync.

Before the fall . . .

Afterwards: NBA 2013

The inspiration:
You're best off, whether balling or otherwise, if you look
like you have a big brother (from whom you inherited the shorts).
And if you want to look like your big brother is really big . . .

The trend of baggy shorts for basketball began with Michael Jordan, who was supersitious about wearing his UNC shorts under his NBA shorts. Thus, his shorts had to be loose and long enough to conceal this. A trend was born, primarily because, in his day, MJ wasn't just the best basketball player; he was the coolest guy in the known universe.

The baggier shorts also cover the compression shorts that many men and women BBall players wear. They would look pretty silly with short shorts over those compression shorts that go to mid thigh.
