Not a lot of time to get the half course offense up to snuff and pick up the defense. I don't recall a single pick and roll in these first two exhibitions, not even an attempt.

Good news is, best PG in the world is coming back soon. And at least 3 or 4 of the preliminary round games should provide plenty of time to work on things.

Best PG in the world, Sue.
Best player in the world, Dee
Best center in the world - Sylvia

That's a very impressive starting 3. and the rest of the team ain't too shabby either!! Catch is one of the best defenders in the world and Parker is just all around great.

Did you watch Parker in the games vs Brazil and GB? I had hoped that she would do much better than what I saw. Just for argument sake, the MVP for the Brazil game was LW, for GB game MM. Granted those game did not count, so we will see what we will see.

Yes i did watch the games. She's certainly been having a great WNBA season - top 5 or 6 in scoring, and same for rebounding. But it's not translated over to the national team as yet. And i'm betting there will be a different POG after every single game. It would not surprise me to see a different player almost every night lead the team in scoring. Rebounding and assists of course give an advantage to post players and guards. But Whalen certainly is showing she totally deserves to be on the team and is a terrific scoring PG...

Did you notice that Sylvia Fowles had only 9 undistinguished minutes in the game against Great Britain? And she didn't look highly motivated in her last WNBA game against the Sun.

She needs to pick it up or be the problem child on this Olympic team. And spend a lot of time watching Tina and Candace from the bench.

Yes I did watch her. And agreed, I thought she was fairly invisible in Brazil game. Really invisible in the 1st half of the GB game, but thought she really picked it up and started to show her class in the 2nd half of the GB.

Fowles had 8 points and 8 rebounds in 9 minutes and that is "undistinguished?" Tina had 6 points and 5 rebounds in 22 minutes and Parker had 8 points and 3 rebounds in 17 minutes. Please explain to me how Fowles was outperformed by those two. I suspect that her playing time was limited due to the 3 fouls she picked up, but it certainly wasn't due to lack of production while she was in the game.

The big women looked a little lagged...

OK, mea culpa. I made the "undistinguished" comment based on visual impression before I looked at her stat line. Indeed, statistically, she had 9 productive minutes. But she was on the floor, and not stopping any penetration or even making it diffcult, when GB built that 11-point early lead.

I admit I was probably biased by watching the Sun-Sky game last Friday, which was the first time that I have seen Tina clearly outplay her 1-on-1. It wasn't because of superior athleticism (obviously), just superior motivation on that night. And that seems to have carried over into the Olympics.

By contrast, my visual impression is that Candace Parker, despite "undistinguished" stats in two games, is playing with full effort and commitment, and is due for a statistical breakout in one of these upcoming games.

Have to agree regarding Parker...she seems motivated...not sure why she's been a little off. Funny how the ball bounces sometimes...

Some people said the same thing about Maya after the first game looking only at the stats, not so much after the second game.
