Missouri has been playing well lately, having won 5 straight before losing at Mississippi State. They seem like the type of team that can make a game ugly, and that's the type of game Tennessee often ends up losing to lesser foes.

Missouri goes on a 12-0 run to take a 23-17 lead over Tenn, mostly while DD on the bench with 2 early fouls. TO Tenn, DD coming back in half way thru 2nd quarter

.-.
South Carolina vs Auburn at halftime South Carolina 29 Auburn 16. Beginning of the 3rd quarter South Carolina 36 Auburn 18.

Listening to Holly during a TO huddleup she told her players, "Stop jump shooting. Penetrate, kick. Pass, cut". This is not teaching offense. This is a simplified scheme. As I've said many times, this places all the responsibility on the guards. Geno teaches the many options and variations off the myriad of positions in the offensive end that each player can affect depending on the the defense used. That's teaching offense.

Michaelis ties the game near the end of the 3rd at 54 for Missou, and UT, with 11.7 secs left, without pressure, barely get a shot off. That is poor coaching, not merely poor player recognition.

Incredible? Mizzou is tied with Tenn in SeC standings. Hardly a terrible team.

But Tennessee is loaded with great talent. That's the point: no way they should be tied with Mizzou either in the standings, or in the score tonight.

.-.
Missouri plays a nice offensive game of movement and screens. They should be pushing UT up court on every inbounds and play with great pace in the half court. They aren't, and for the most part, haven't during the game.

Cunningham has mostly been kept in check, looking a little slow and mechanical on the offensive end.. Missouri's offense coming to a crawl in the 4th as the team looks tired.

Watching UT it sounds as if only one maybe two players do much talking on either end. Cunningham misses her 2nd layup this quarter.

UT is one of the quieter teams I've seen this year. UT 68-58 with 4:43 let. DD shooting well tonight.

DD with 18 2nd half points. To me her shooting issues have always been mechanics. She doesn't jump the same height with consistency, so therefore she often has to make a correction, She doesn't always shoot with her feet set, and she often shoots without going straight up. It makes her an exciting player that will always, CBB or pro, be an inconsistent, streaky shooter. She'll have her big, flashy nights of 3o and she's going to have her o'fers. That's just not my kind of player.

She's shooting well now. She didn't start the game too great. Some real head-scratcher shots in the beginning.

Missouri now doing the silly marionette march to the FT line. It's 75-64, 35 secs left. Why bother?

Damn. When UNC beat NC State I thought maybe they were turning a corner. But since then UNC has lost at Clemson and now to Boston College (at home), two ACC bottom-feeders.

NCState survives in OT , 75-67.

Two OT games with heavy bubble implications: GA Tech is Charlie Creme's first team out, and they've now lost 6 of their last 7 games, including three overtime losses to Wake Forest, Virginia and now NC State.

Also, Iowa just beat Michigan State in OT. The Big Ten has four teams clustered tightly around the cut line, and that game involved two of them.

Miss St is doing a UConn on Vanderbilt, 40-8 in the 2nd quarter. Vivians has 21 points in just 15 minutes.

Seriously, how did Duke ever lose to Vandy?

Jordy---you don't do much teaching this late in the season--or during games (some not much). The Holly game plan is usually quite simple---you let the Refs throw up the ball then sit back watch the game--during time out's ==give the formula drive kick pass defend--then go back to enjoy your knitting. I'm a great coach or what--I'm applying, at a discount of course, for the job that's about to be open in knoxville.

LOL. Agreed. What this sounded like to me were the offensive strategies she's been teaching from day one. This was just her on repeat, and frankly when watching this team over time, it's clear it has been their strategy. Along of course with dump it into the post.

You need to listen to me more concerning UNC, its not like Im biased against them or anything.

South Carolina scored 60 against Auburn at home. That translates to 40 against us in Storrs. I don't think they can win with 40. :D

As the season grows.... with each Duke win and Vandy loss.. it looks worse and worse. I didnt think it was that awful of a loss at the time..... I figured Vandy must have a upper-tier SEC squad.... but boy was I wrong. I just tried to look at a replay on WatchESPN...but apparently they only keep games archived for a month or so. From what I remember and just looking at the stats of the game. 1) it was early in the season 2) Vandy plays in that weird gym 3) we shot poorly 2-17 from downtown 4) Sloppy play... lots of turnovers... and Vandy killed us on the Offensive boards. They only had one player over 6'0..... their 6'1 chunky center who dominated our front line. Head bang
