Article says the middle school-er was offered a scholarship....

that just seems crazy to me. so she's effectively part of the 2015 class. yikes. have Parker's and Lobo's kids verbaled yet?!!

It'd be krazy if it were binding. This works out well for NC - if she develops, then they've got the inside track on landing her. If she doesn't, then they just let her know (implicitly or explicitly) that they're no longer interested.

Is the author of that article related to the girl? Same last name.

Hatchell might see this blow up in her face.

Permit me to go back to sleep. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

So what? Its not binding so if she wants to change her mind she is free to do so

I just think its very wrong to offer a scholarship to a thirteen year old girl who hasn't even started high school yet.

Just curious but why is it wrong? UNC recognized her talents and wanted to get her before other schools started recruiting her.

It is wrong because a thirteen year old girl is much to young to know what she wants to do with her life. What is going to stop these ridiculos offers going to twelve, eleven, or ten year olds. I know that it is non-binding , but the NCAA should put an end to these scholarship offers.

Yeah but she only gave a verbal commitement its not like its binding she has years to change her mind if Unc isn't where she wants to be.

Verbals are worth the paper they are written on.

When Oral Roberts offers a bb scholarship to a baby in utero, that might evoke a backlash.

This is just downright silly... A 13 year old...

It's just a verbal, and she can easily change her mind.
