Of course, I’ll be watching all gamecocks games this year, but I’m keeping an eye out for TCU telecasts too.

It will be tough. An expected change in the style of basketball means she will have returning players who may not be suited to the new style. It may take her 2 or 3 seasons to get a roster she likes. That's not saying that the returning players aren't talented.

It should be interesting, especially when the SEC games start.

Yes I understand that. I heard her say that she also listened to the players. And they wanted a more uptempo style. I think this is the players she will look to add. She did say after a practice that they don't even know how high their ceiling is. If this works she will have a lot of potential recruits . From the little coverage I have seen. I think this can be a exciting brand of basketball. BTW Marshall was top five last year in scoring.

Students will be checking in about 30 days from now. Freshmen will begin their true college experience. Football, marching band etc
Thanks for sharing. The article was good and fairly comprehensive. I agree with a lot of it and they highlighted a couple things I keep overlooking. For instance as much as I like Oklahoma's pieces, they are switching conferences which I tend to forget and it really could be a tough adjustment. SEC is no joke. Aside from LSU, Texas and SC- Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss are super talented. I like the Laila Phelia mention as I think she is one of the more slept on transfer portal signings. I think she fits what Vic wants at the 2 more than some of their signings in previous years, tho they did a fine job. Lastly they kinda posed the question who's going to be NPOY. I love it. I think it's more wide open than ppl think and I think a lot of candidates will matchup with one another. Not that the individual matchup means everything but I do think it matters and will be something to see.

I think the NPOY is Paige’s award to lose. Juju and Hannah are not in a position to take it from her if she plays up to potential. Juju is not competitive across the full range of stats, and Hannah will be eclipsed by the return of Olivia. That’s great news for ND, but not so great for Hannah’s NPOY hopes. If Paige carries UConn through the first weekend of the tournament like she did last season, it’s all over. The only question is whether she can carry them to NC #12. I’m optimistic.

People often forget that Paige isn’t just another player on the floor. She’s Coach P. The rest of the team looks to her not just to score or make a play, but also for guidance.

As always, I assume a healthy season for everyone, since there’s no point assuming injuries before the season has even started.

Yeah I think most ppl think it's Paige's to lose, I just don't agree. Or at least I don't think it should be. Last year, where would you put Paige in terms of NPOY? Do they release the official voting? Imo she was probably 4th, behind Caitlin and the two freshman. I honestly felt like Cardoso should've been in the convo as well but the way SC blew out UConn when she was away kinda hurt her case a bit. I get HH has help coming in but Paige does as well with Azzi and Kaitlyn. Even if HH scoring is down she'll still be a menace defensively and continue to stand out. I think Juju or Kiki I could be in the running. Madison Booker could be in the running as well. I like rewarding the best player one of if not best team unless a player is having a standout season.

In the AP All-American (not POY) voting, I believe that Paige finished behind Clark, Brink, and Watkins. would have voted her second, given that she played out of position and got the Huskies to the Final Four.

I am right there with you as well. I am hoping that Coach Caldwell is one of those rare coaches, who in their first year, catch that lighting in the bottle moment. Where the program just responds and buys into the coaching vision and just takes off! If Coach can do that, especially in the SEC in Year One and build on that success each season, it is going to be great for the Lady Vols, their fanbase, and for the game overall.

That's actually funny...she didn't say ..."I wouldn't have accepted that big contract if I didn't think we could do it here." Yeah right. The fan base will be even more brutal with an outsider. They need to give her some time.

I would like to hear the exact question posed. It seems to me that she could have been answering a different question such as "do you think your team can contend for SEC titles." Her response would be on point to a question like that

Her response just doesn't seem appropriate to the unquoted question about SEC physicality.

A clip of some highlights of the press conference. You can hear the question at the end of it.

Thanks.

She was answering a COMPLETELY different question that was not at all about SEC physicality and style of play.. Not your fault, It's misstated in the tweet you linked.
