10 Years of Rentschler Field or 11???

With all the talk of the 10th season of Rentschler Field and the commemorative gifts to the fans, I don't think the athletic department realizes that it is actually the 11th season. Edsall coached 8 years at The Rent. Coach P is in his 3rd. Whoops....

I was a junior in high school when the rent opened up and have had season tickets since I was a student in 05.

I knew this was true, but had convinced myself that the UConn athletic department couldn't be that stupid.... horrible assumption on my part!

It's just like birthdays and anniversaries. Your 10th one is the start of your 11th year. The Rent opened 10 years ago this month.

Let's count. 2003 was one year. 2004 was two years, 5-3, 6-4, 7-5, 8-6, 9-7, 10-8, 11-9, 12-10.

If the 10th year anniversary is this month then they are celebrating the 10 year anniversary, this month. Think about it...when your 10 yr wedding anniversary arrives you are celebrating it THAT DAY. After that you are working on year 11.

Please folks, this is not that confusing. This is the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Rent but it is not the 10th season. Of course it's the 11th season but it's the 10th anniversary. For example, on opening day 2004 we celebrated the 1st anniversary of the Rent----at the start of the 2nd season.

It's being promoted as 10 years at the Rent, just seems silly to me.

Did they say this is the 1st anniversary of the Rent the day it opened? No. Did they say this is the 2nd anniversary the start of the second season?...
