“Shooter”

The Microwave!

Gwynn was actually more of a scorer than a shooter. He had a great mid range but his overall shooting numbers weren't nearly as good as some other UConn players mentioned in this thread- Ray, Rip, Rashad, Smitty and even Brian Fair.

And Gwynn being the microwave was what UConn needed more than Gwynn the shooter. He was a boost in energy and put another layer of pressure on the defense when he came in to the game.

Shooter - Exhibit A

When I was growing up playing, I always got a kick out of coaches yelling "shooter" when the 7th or 8th man came off the bench. Most likely he was not a "shooter."
On the other hand probably one of my favorite pictures from my kids high school career is the opposing coach pointing at her yelling shooter as she took a three. She had made her last two, and made that one as well, all probably within the first 5 to 10 minutes of the game. The coach called a timeout and after that they got out on her.

Tyler can still reach his potential this year, right? He should be throwing up a zillion shots a day because this is money for him going forward should he excel.

I always thought of a scorer as a guy who drives and creates more. Shooter is a spot-up or off the ball guy who’s lights out, but not known to create. BFair and Rashad excellent examples.
