    2024 Recruiting: Tarris Reed Jr.

Definitely talent there. Rivals had him #31 in class of '22. Clingan #39. Looking at his two games vs Illinois, 31 minutes, 16.5 pts, 6 rebounds, 7 of 9 FT. But then there are the two Purdue games where he averaged 5 fouls over 22.5 minutes and 4 points,. But 8.5 rebounds. Went to the line...

And ESPN leads with: UConn wins 8th Big East tournament title, first since 2011 Hard to win it when you're not in the conference for several years. Guess it's more notoable than winning two National Championships since 2011. Finally acknowledges that we just achieved most Big East...

    FS2 is so 1990

I noted that during a lot of breaks, they didn't even go to commercial. Figured that they couldn't sell a lot of spots for this matchup on this network.

    Arkansas-Pine Bluff Post Game Thread

Thought it many times during the game. Intonation, detailed analysis, so similar. Thought he must have worked on an imitation of Bilas. Didn't even fast forward past the Yak-Yak of the announcers just before the start of the second half to see who it was. I liked it.

Cam Spencer the new Grayson Allen??

Now that this thread has got me thinking about it, Cam's court presence reminds me of a long ago Seton Hall guard who was annoying to opponents. Maybe Cam will win a Championship as a coach someday too.

    Report Card vs Florida

"If the ball enters the post and he is doubled, and Hawk, Karaban or Joey come wide open, he needs to fire the ball over to them for the assist. Our overall points per possession with go up, and it'll make teams more reluctant to double him, so his individual efficiency will go up as well."...

OT: Did anyone go to uconn in the early 70's? (I am on a mission to find a lost bar)

Pretty funny that we're talking about Kathy John's and Shaboo Inn in the same thread, as it was Kathy John's kids that were co- owners of the Shaboo and part of the Shaboo Allstars. One also had a restaurant across from Lou's on Route 32.

OT: Did anyone go to uconn in the early 70's? (I am on a mission to find a lost bar)

Exactly. On Route 32 in the Merrow section of Mansfield. Chuck's Steak House Margarita Grill. You walk in through the silo.

Saw Arlo Guthrie @ Shaboo in 1980, and Janis Ian not long afterwards. Livngston Taylor a couple times. Saw Clarence Clemons @ Husky Blues (yes, it was across from E.O. Smith, below The Disc).

OT: Did anyone go to uconn in the early 70's? (I am on a mission to find a lost bar)

When I say "in the woods behind Kathy John's" I don't mean it was off the parking lot or something, only that KJ's was the nearest landmark, so in near vicinity in the wilds behind, but you had to go up RT. 320 and then take the first right. My wife is sitting here and recalls the exact same...

OT: Did anyone go to uconn in the early 70's? (I am on a mission to find a lost bar)

I went to UConn in '68 and was in the area like forever (Lived in Mansfield Center for 30 years). We used to go to the Barn in the woods behind Kathy John's my first couple of years, but then it became defunct. A few years late we migrated to Jury's Tavern on Route 32 in South Willington...

    Demonic ThoughtZ™

Sanogo, Martin, and Whaley did not have their better games. We won. That's one of the good things about this team, someone always seems to step up when matchups or bad nights slow other typical contributors down. Example: Martin has 3 points in 1st Butler game, Cole leads with 17. Cole...

    Friendly reminder for coaches

By who? A team that had one player in double figures (in an OT game), shot 35%, 5 of 21 on 3pters, and 58% from the line? Our problem wasn't defense, it was breaking the press, handling the ball, not turning it over. Gafney did none of that, and if Diggins can't either, we're in trouble. I...

    Friendly reminder for coaches

Bingo. We have a winner. Loyalty. That is what this is about. The rational (what is seen in practice) is not always going to override the emotional (loyalty). See Gilbert, A. It was an injury that that promoted an understudy and changed the season.

    2022 Recruiting: Alex Karaban

Looks like this thread has gotten derailed again by Karaban talk, so let's get back on topic. Exactly. Whaley can certainly do better on whoever Polley is letting through for layups, and Sanogo can take who Whaley had. Whaley + Sanogo > Polley & Whaley.

Both. His defense would have been an improvement, continues to provide an offensive option, so that it doesn't come down to the free throw line.
  32. Husky1972

I’m so sick of this team’s embarrassing free throw shooting

No kidding. Like Cole or not, can you picture this game without him?? Combination of Gaffney and Adams running the point for 40 minutes against that pressure?

Plus, I was watching the foul situation and St. John's had either just reached the limit or gone over it when Sanogo went out. We were in the Bonus+ with over 5 minutes left. Perfect situation for feeding a big in the paint.
  34. Husky1972

    Hurley coaching malpractice

Not at all. St. John's looks like they are a team putting something together as the season goes along. Their guards are much better than what we had out there (Posh obviously). But they have limited size, which is why when we tried to take advantage of it with Sanogo, we started to...

I think he took him out right after I said "great adjustment, feed Sanogo for jump hooks and layups, while having him protect the rim at the other end." I think it was right after that.
