    Arkeel Newsome will be ready

I never mind redshirting a player, but I don't mind a RB playing as a true freshman. Great RBs tend to leave early anyway, so if he can help on the field get him out there. On paper, Newsome is our highest touted recruit ever at the position, and probably a top 3 highest touted player we've...

Very slowwwwly the info about the UNC cheating dibbles out...

fake classes? it sounds like there was a fake academic department. I don't understand how there hasn't been more talk of UNC losing their accreditation. I always thought the whole point of accreditation is to make sure colleges aren't giving kids B-S degrees without making them take any classes.

    Questions surround UConn's offensive line.

We had that dominance against South Carolina in Birmingham. It was an awesome game to watch. Our pass protection with Foley may not have been great, but the OLine wasn't the reason our passing game sucked. I'll take dominant punch you in the face run blocking with just adequate pass blocking...

Does anyone else think it was somewhat strange to schedule Spring

It's perfectly logical for all the reasons listed above. I wonder if it's legal to have the first week of practice during Spring Break. The players would be able to spend all of the week thinking football, almost like NFL spring training, then you could take a week off, let it sink in and let...

    AAC Home and Away Schedules

On the bright side, we get our toughest games at home for the most part and we have terrific destinations for those looking to travel to an away game. Our conference is what it is, but this is all we can hope for from our AAC schedule. We'll need at least 5 conference wins if we want a bowl...

Excited-Diaco doing it the right way

It's tough to get too excited before a down is played, but the top assistant at Notre Dame and Frank Broyles award winner is about the best we can ask for on paper. When we hired P I was glad that we didn't have to worry about him going anywhere, looking back I can't believe what an idiotic...

First Openly Gay NFL player comes out

Correlation doesn't equal causation. The instances of black quarterbacks has probably increased by a similar percentage and there haven't been any rules requiring coaches consider black QBs. It's the changing times, not the rule. Eventually owners learn that if they want to win a championship...

Commit Arkeel Newsome named to 50th Annual Parade All-American team

It doesn't pain me to say it at all, P was a good recruiter, or at least his staff did well with recruiting. P had other problems. We have a few guys on the roster that we probably wouldn't have gotten under Edsall. I think Diaco should be better still, but we won't really be able to gauge...

First weekend of official visits after dead period in the books.

Our "monster" classes never ranked higher than 6 out of 8 Big East teams, and off the top of my head I'm pretty sure we were 7 or 8 out of 8 every year in the Big East except maybe one 6th. P actually did a decent job of bringing in "bigger" name kids than Edsall. We have 2 guys in the Big33...

OT- Coach P - tabbed as new Bears LB coach?

Position coach in the NFL is a lot different than HC of a college program. HC of a D1 football program is a full time, life consuming job. All he has to do for the Bears is punch a clock and spend 5-6 hours a day trying to teach a little bit of technique to 6 or 7 line backers. He'll have...

    Penn State Math?

I don't know that I feel too strongly about players that choose to follow Franklin to PSU, they're following the coach that recruited them. I think the real in this situation is Franklin for telling some kid that he doesn't have a spot at PennState and they have one or two weeks to remake...

    UConn & 2014 NFL Combine/Draft

This thread has turned into a steaming mess. Regardless of what you think about Bennett, there's no reason to go out of your way to talk down a Husky. If the Giants draft him, he'll be a Giant and you can crap on him all you want, but there's no reason to do it now. Does anyone know when the...

Is this for real? Patterson talking to ND?

Notre Dame approaching Patterson is a win/win for us. If he stays he can approach recruits having chosen us over Notre Dame. If he leaves he wasn't on board to begin with and we might as well see him gone two weeks in. If he stays it also means we probably won't have to worry about him...

    DC Anthony Poindexter

You never know, P and company brought in some top guys and he got a later start than Diaco's crew and he'd been away from college for a few years. I'm more concerned with who they bring in the next 2-3 years than this one anyhow.

Tough day for the ACC - hahahaha

100% incorrect. In 4-5 years MD and RU will be totaling 8 wins between them in football and I don't think recruits will be lining up to get their nuts kicked in by the PSU/OSU/UMs of the world.

    UCF Fiesta Bowl Tickets Sales

They didn't have any unsold tickets. I know several people that tried to buy tickets through Rutgers and were told there were none available because of excess demand. None of these people were Rutgers fans mind you and I'd be surprised if half Rutgers' tickets were sold to people rooting for...

    Notre Dame Hires DC

There were a lot of issues at Auburn last year. I don't know anything about the guy, but he probably had good credentials to get hired as DC at Auburn, and I don't know that it's fair to hold that dumpster-fire-of-a-season against him.

Early look ahead to Bob Diaco's first UConn team - Jim Fuller

I think Diaco ought to be able to field a great team next year. We basically return everything except our OLine, and I can't remember ever having a bad OLine under Foley.

Pete Roussel : Bob Diaco has retained only one uconn assistant

I liked Weist, but when I read the title my first thought was, "I hope it's Foley." Realistically it might have been a bad idea to have another guy who was a candidate for HC step down the chain of command. At the end of the day, if Weist stayed on as OC it would be a demotion since he was...

    Arkeel Newsome Solid Verbal?

I can't imagine any recruits would leave as a result of the coaching change. That's not to say they'll all end up in Storrs, but I can't imagine not having P in the head coach's office would be the reason.

    Smallwood

I think I'd rank them Sio, Wilson, Smallwood, Fincher, Lutrus, although Fincher was my favorite, and Lutrus would have been higher if he didn't have the injuries. We really have had a lot of good ones, and even with Smallwood in the NFL we'll be in decent shape next year.

What would people think of Don Brown for HC?

Personally this time last year I was hoping that P would be canned at the end of the year and Don Brown would be promoted. He had an exciting defense, a fiery personality and was a great recruiter with ties to the area. Maybe I'd prefer he was 45 years old, but realistically we have to think...

Based on production at QB, our best one is...

I don't agree with this at all. Whitmer is only a junior so he can start for us next season. I'd like to see how he does at the reins of an offense without DeLeone in the mix. Either way I'm glad we'll at least have some game tape on all of them for next year's coach. I'm still frustrated...

Rutgers fans dealing with several decommits

I was going to say the same thing as UCFBfan. I don't know exactly what the new "BCS Bowl" rules are, but I think for Rutgers to make one they'll have to be in the top 3 of the B1G and how often are they going to be better than Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, and PennState or even Iowa or...

HCPP a gift that keeps on giving

If this happened two years ago, there's a 50/50 shot the kid's not even on the team anymore. I hate to say it, but if P's is told about a rape accusation, with no arrest, against a player that's out of the program, what is he really supposed to do? Even if he's still in the program I don't...

I was wrong to call Boyle Horrible.

When some people were ripping him as hard as they were, I thought I had watched a different game. His stats weren't great, but he did a good job of finding an open receiver and throwing it to them. He ran well a few times and seemed to react well to pressure in terms of moving away from it and...

    Boyle was pretty good

I actually thought he looked good, great when considering he's a true freshman in his first start. He moved really well in and out of the pocket and generally did a good job of finding an open receiver. At half time he was something like 5 of 18, but most of those balls were catchable. I...

Pass Rush - Where are You?
