Giants hire Joe Judge (Patriots ST/WR Coach)

Will the local media refer to him as The New York Football Judge so there's no confusion with Aaron Judge?

    OT: 1990 Storrs

Thanks for posting that link. A few things about that issue of the Daily Campus: I probably had the same reaction when I read it back then, but I can't believe I knew one of the guys in the Husky Talk section. Nice to see the Far Side. "Deadly couch cobra" :D Also good to see one of those...

    OT: 1990 Storrs

There was definitely a Wawa’s next to the Friendly’s plaza. I don’t remember when it closed, maybe ‘93 or ‘94. Store 24 was around, but in the plaza with the florist and Campus Disc.

Man this ESPN TV production is terrible and the announcers are less than pedestrian

Not a fan of the “Field of Dreams” quote fest? To be fair, the first one was fine, but, after that, move on.

    OT: Book suggestions

Please let us know every non-fiction book you have read so we're not giving you repeats. "When Pride Still Mattered" (Vince Lombardi biography) by Dave Maraniss was pretty good.

Might Be Another Long Year for Sox fans

It's kind of surreal to think that Boston can reach 100 wins by going 25-29 to finish the season. It's also crazy to think that if they "only" win 100 games, they're not winning the AL East.

OT: Players physically attacking the refs

I'd love to hear that person explaining to another family member or friend what happened - Yeah, we were there. It was crazy. There was all this trash talk, then one ref took off his shirt like he was gonna fight the players, then a bunch of players ganged up on the refs. It was nuts. In the...

    Ollie threatening to sue UConn

You gotta spend money to make money, brother. That's Business 101. UConn should pay Ollie $15 million to show everyone how serious they are. (Post may contain sarcasm)

All dialogue will be in Lakota, with no subtitles. The timelines will be clear and easy to follow, though.

    GOT - Winds of Winter

If someone is ever looking for an example of saying "never" without actually using the word, they can use that bolded section. A Dance with Dragons came out in 2011. Book 6 will come out in 2019, at the earliest. Then there will be a multiple year wait for the final book. Then, volume 2 of Fire...

OT: Sports Pope returning to WFAN

Wow, that's ovaltine/roundtine level bad. You mentioned Francesa's next retirement, whenever that is. There's no way they can do another almost year long build-up. Maybe he'll announce on a Monday that Friday will be his last day or go on a vacation and never return?

    The Sox are on Fire!!

I've seen enough. 3 game losing streak, getting no hit. It's time #firecora

    Stephen A. Smith at UConn

It's safe to say Stephen A. Smith isn't a big fan of this song:
  14. StoweD210

    The Sox are on Fire!!

“You can’t count on hitting grand slams every game, Mike! You can’t!” - There’s your main talking point for Felger and Mazz for the next week or so. That and their opposition was terrible or was playing bad when the Sox played them.

    OT: Jay Wright/Knicks

Please note, there are several significant caveats to this point (it’s anecdotal, it’s old and there were probably contracts/agreements in place that dictated the decision.) Anyway, in the early to mid 90s, when the Knicks were very good, I can remember WFAN would run Mets spring training games...

Federal prosecutors have filed additional counts against ex-Adidas rep Jim Gatto in CBB scandal:

The NCAA is looking into Depaul, too! They take any hint of a rules violation very seriously and investigate them all vigorously!* *Unless coaches are using sneaker companies to pay recruits to come to their school. Then there's nothing they can do.

    Girls lose :(

I guess it's an example of the state of officiating in the women's game that the refs reviewed the final shot and determined that the final .1 second must be played, even though it was impossible for it to have any bearing on the outcome. In the meantime, they completely missed the Mississippi...

Just found this delightful nugget in my files.

Has there been a comparable penalty since then? I get that it happened in what turned out to be the last game of UConn's season, so there was no "next game" for Sellers to sit out. To suspend him for his next NCAA tournament game instead of the first game the next season (or even the first...

    OT Nate Solder to Giants

There was some speculation about that, but the Buckeyes gave Schiano a raise to stay put. Brian Flores, who I think was the LB coach, will run the defense for the Patriots next season. He won’t have the title of DC but will be doing the job.

    OT- Jimmy Garoppolo contract

It's not like the Boston Herald to run an unverified and inaccurate negative story about the Patriots.

Another update on investigation from the Courant

Echoing what some others have said, the piece of the puzzle that's missing for me is what triggered the need for an investigation. It's not like, 2 years ago, Ollie said that we need to pick up our recruiting and the next year signed 3 McDonald's All Americans, 2 of which decommitted from Duke...

    OT: Tom Brady GOAT

Ironically, that particular penalty has only been called once, ever, in league history.

    OT: Tom Brady GOAT

Thanks for taking the time to put that together. To add to this, I saw a table that broke down the occurrences of a team winning 4 games or less in a season by division. Since 2006, there have been 4 teams from the AFCE that have won 4 or fewer games in a season (Jets twice, Dolphins and Bills...

    OT: Tom Brady GOAT

In the playoff games against the Bills and Steelers, Jacksonville was aggressive, going for it on 4th and goal and scoring TDs in both cases. Yesterday, with 55 seconds left in the half and 2 TOs, Marrone gets as conservative as possible and lets the clock run to end the half. Obviously, it's a...

    OT: Tom Brady GOAT

What’s funny is that Manning was moved out of the “soft” AFC East to an even easier division.

OT is Brady trying to be a hero

It’s a copycat league, except for whatever offensive system the Patriots run. No one ever tries to copy that.
  30. StoweD210

    OT James Harrison to Pats

Harrison made a few plays today. I wouldn’t alter the defensive game plan to feature him, but maybe he can play a limited role in the playoffs.

    OT: Francesa's Last Day

Apologies for going on a tangent, but, of the two of them, I never would have guessed that Russo would be the one to leave for a big contract and a national platform. Part of it was that's what it seemed like Francesa would desire more, but also that Russo regularly criticized athletes leaving...

    What was the Boneyard Like?

The build up for that game and the aftermath were terrific. The BC posters were, even for them, over-the-top obnoxious. I could be wrong, but I think IAYF banned himself earlier in the season because he had promised to do so if BC lost a conference game that season. When it looked like BC was a...

    OT: Pitino sues Louisville

$4.3 million a year for the next 8 years? Seems like a reasonable figure grounded in reality.

    OT: Pitt

Shhh...We're not supposed to comment on the shortcomings of former conference rivals because UConn is not the undefeated, defending national champion. Or something.
