Boneyard way! People throwing culture fit and "just chasing the bag" and the kid clearly is taking his time to make a well-informed and thoughtful decision for, you know, his life and he is being criticized. That seems like the type of kid who would fit our culture perfectly.
I get it... It's definitely better for the players and deservedly so. They were $$-making entities for years and saw little to no profit. I guess I'd like to see the transfer year off return unless there's a coaching change or a major life-event circumstance return. But I also want the "old" CBB...
Alabama is coming off their best season ever. They have one of the best coaches in the country. They have a large and rabid fan base. They were, by far, our toughest test. And they've had five enter the portal to get more $$ elsewhere. Three of those, I think, were freshmen. That absolutely sucks.
I'd honestly prefer the "cheating" aspect again. At least then you'd see a guy like Hilton Armstrong improve for four years and the mid-majors would have a chance. Now the second some small program finds a diamond in the rough, they leave.
Perhaps I'm yelling at clouds, but I agree 100%. The NCAA knew that this would be coming and was caught with their pants down and now the whole system is broke. It's a joke. And while we have been very successful utilizing the portal, I legit hate it.
What reasonable parameters could be put...
Such a tired viewpoint... There are so many other parameters that exist beyond just "UConn Material," whatever that means. We can't just rationalize that an 18 year old is flawed any time they do not see the City on the Hill that we make UConn out to be.
Feel like Castle and Cling silenced some doubters... The other guys all still have their "flaws" (namely age) that stupid NBA people will have trouble looking past. AK remains to be seen. I'd be shocked if he's a first round pick at this point.
I'm aware... But if he takes more visits, Ark could be one. Initially we thought it was only going to maybe be Alabama. Then Michigan. Now maybe UK and Arkansas.
Because they are the 10th/11th/12th guys. I'm sorry, but there is zero chance we're going that deep. DH gets his 8 man rotation by BE season and it's not really going to vary.
On paper we will have some depth... But let's be realistic and say that DH typically only goes 8 deep with sometimes a 9th guy getting a minute of two. That 9th guy became Ball who barely played in the tournament stretch outside of garbage time. I'd be surprised if we only had one guy getting...
A 1? Really? He played like 12 minutes the whole year. I think the kid has some talent for sure but he's definitely going to get squeezed out again I'd imagine.
Nothing in college sports really matters anymore... A kid flipped between 'Bama and Auburn the other day. 10 years ago those fans were poisoning the trees.
