FSU looking to leave the ACC

FSU has called a special meeting of their trustees tomorrow morning. Looks like they want to leave the ACC and challenge the GOR. Being left out of the playoffs was apparently the last straw...

Us and Alabama in the same boat?

Here's a rare but unfortunate comparison. Alabama's woes seem to mirror ours this year. No settled quarterback, receivers not getting separation, inconsistent offensive line play. Even questionable offensive play calling. It's tough to win in today's game with with those problems on offense.

    Shoutout to San Diego State

Have to give credit to San Diego State. The team played hard, but I didn't see anything really dirty or any chippy behavior. Dutcher and his team were a class act and a tough opponent. Good luck to them.

Nice article on ESPN. So far the vibe has been positive, but we have a very tough early schedule. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/34459251/jim-mora-uconn-football-looking-write-comeback-story-together

    Free Jay Rose

Jay Rose had a great game last night. Seems like he was being held in to block for first few games but seems like with the improvement in the o line, he’s available as a receiver and a passer. Very talented player.

    Unexpected UConn sighting

On vacation a few weeks ago on Elbow Cay, Abaco, Bahamas. Staying in Hope Town. On the way back from dinner at Firefly, we stop in at a grocery store, The Foodstore. The clerk is wearing a UConn tee shirt. He's Deon McPhee's uncle. Said Deon is involved with a boating business in Marsh Harbour.

    New coaches had difficult debuts

Many new head coaches had rough times in openers. Tom Herman stunk it up at Texas, Charlie Strong's USF team struggled with San Jose State and Stony Brook (let's hope his struggles continue next week), P.J. Fleck at Minnesota put a whupping on Buffalo 17-7, and Matt Ruhle's Baylor Bears lost to...

    Decent realignment article

Fairly concise rehash of what's being thrown around. ACC is the most vulnerable to raids from the B1G, SEC, and even the Big 12, no surprise. The ACC will be in no hurry to settle the Maryland suit. http://www.mrsec.com/2013/01/big-bang-theories-the-countdown-to-super-conferences-part-4/#

Mistake of not doing the football deal with ND

There were many on this board screaming bloody murder about not doing the football deal with ND. (They're irrelevant, shouldn't play home games outside of the Rent, etc.) Had that deal been made, we'd have had more leverage in this re-alignment thing. It should've been done, but that ship has...

Hoops Weiss doesn't believe Cuse - ACC is a good fit.

He makes sense. Plus they are also joining a conference that may look different when they get on board. The ACC is the next least stable BCS conference, and is second from the bottom in tv revenue per school, a deal they just locked in...

WSJ article on ACC attendance woes

What the FSU also meant to say.

"Not particularly, no," Florida State Board of Trustees Chairman Andy Haggard said of whether he would be in favor of the conference adding Connecticut and Rutgers. Cuse drew a small crowd at the Coliseum

Not thrilled in Florida about Cuse and Pitt

Not according to this article: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/bianchi-fsu-acc-sec.docx-20110923,0,3711432.column Of course they wouldn't be dancing in the streets with us either, but at least our football program isn't on life support, like Syracuse's. Unless Swofford can add ND, he's...
