This kid deserves as much appreciation as anyone on this roster. He set the tone as the first man off the bench. His shooting numbers are off the chart compared to the prior year. When Hurley mentioned how we needed some “dogs” to lead the pack he’s the first kid that comes to mind. Proud of the...
Great player but he was grossly misused most of the night. With someone that big he needs to be used in ball screens every other play. You may not score off of every screen but you force the defense to have to guard a few options. Over time it loosens the defense up..
STILL an awful call and STILL should’ve been an afforded the shot to win the game. DVR the entirety of the game and you’ll see 18 to 9 in fouls and push offs to score baskets. Could we have played better? Maybe. The whistle was one sided and definitely impacted the gutsy Huskies.
I always question why coaches take timeouts in those end of game scenarios. I think getting it in Paige’s hand while the defense is on their heels is something you have to let play out. Calling a timeout lets the defense set up and more often than not forces you into doing something you don’t...
I think it’ll be more about how Illinois will stop us from scoring. We just put up 82 on the #11 defense and now we’re going against a defense in the 80s.. we can score too, stay discipline on the shot fakes and force them to drive into the paint.
Thank you! When you make 17 layups / dunks in 20 minutes of basketball that constitutes as clinically manhandling your opponent. You can only do that if you are physically equipped to do so. This team gets stronger in the second half and wants to knock you out.
I’ve actually seen it in person 4x times this year. We’ve dominated our opponents physically and mentally. I can only imagine how good we’d be if we actually had better athletes. Give me a break!
They never lost their focus. Just missed shots. When you’re up 26 they’re just looking to get home injury free. They were stuck in Milwaukee an extra day well into Thursday. It was another win from an extremely special group. Enjoy this group while we have them . On to trophy season
They absolutely do love to point out anything negative about Uconn . Most likely a way to draw interest in viewers for FS1. How many times did they flash the stat about the road wins? The stats they don’t convey is #1 in overall scoring margin +17.3, #4 in scoring margin on the road. The...
Need to get Solo Ball more run. There’s going to a spot where we need him like Joey C last year. There are always games where someone picks up 2 fouls and your bench needs to be stretched a bit.
Sometimes I don’t understand the takes on here. Whenever you play a team like Villanova and beat them by 24 pts it qualifies as an A grade. It’s a make miss sport. We’ve set an unreasonable standard if we think we’re gonna shoot 50% from 3s every game and win by 30+ every night. This game has no...
I disagree and most people on this board would disagree with you. Your job as an announcer is not to referee the game. Your job is to provide thoughtful insight into things people watching from home might not see.
He forces about 4 or 5 missed shots, another 5 or 6 possessions away from the paint along with 2 or 3 blocks. He can single handedly shift a game without even scoring.
Pretty scary to think about Castles potential - he does so much now, he plays the best on ball defense of anyone on the team and grabs the most loose balls.. best full court transition finisher we’ve had since maybe Rudy?
He’s the type of guy that would put up 25 against us and would be the cause of great heartache for the BY. Glad he’s on our side, remember Steve Novak?
I watched tonight’s practice and my takeaways :
1) Spencer and Newton will be a nightmare to defend with added space from defenses clogging on Clingan.
2) Castle playing off of high hedge screens will wear down defenses - pick your poison with lobs at the rim and world class finishing. I think...
