UMass > MAC for all sports in 2025-2026

This. The Yard often makes success in college sports some nebulous, mystical, annd unknowable outcome based on hundreds of material and immaterial concepts. It might be a coping mechanism for a decade and a half of being passed over, not sure. Yes, success in college sports is complex, but if...

    FIU Post Game Thread

I was encouraged by the defense in the second half and generally what they look like after the offense gives them some time on the sideline. Beyond that not much to be pleased by. Let’s see Turner and a new OC

If it’s so easy to schedule P5 games, I’m struggling to see why you wouldn’t take an AAC offer with its eight conference games and schedule the remaining 4 as P5s or 1 P5 1 FCS. We already have 7 G5 games on this year’s calendar

I hate this stat. It's not reality. A shell-shocked fanbase after ten years of perennial losers not showing up due to what was supposed to be hurricane-like conditions is not necessarily an end-all, be-all "reality"

regardless of the conference - I am not thrilled with the idea of playing ECU either - we are losing scheduling opponents and flexibility and are growing increasingly isolated. UMass and UConn being the only two independents (not counting ND) is not good for the program, period.

A view after the dust settles

I agree with all your points beyond #1. Rosa was very obviously somersaulting and then chucked the ball up - there wasn’t a guy anywhere near him, and he checked before he did it. You can argue whether or not it’s appropriate, but it’s the rule

    thread for frivolous realignment schemes

A lot of the AAC talk has made me wonder. It’s sort of amazing there’s no eastern-northeastern G5. You’d think there would be some interest in having that orientation of school since there were once two BCS conferences and several FCS conferences covering that market. There’s enough schools for...

Where does UConn go from here?

In the near term, it’s essential to get a better TV deal - stream or no stream (prefer stream) - plus negotiate a bowl tie in somewhere. Mid-term, it may be necessary to start trading basketball non-con games for football scheduling depending on if the conferences begin to increase their...

With very very little to show for it. My point was that throwing around “we have the best league” based on recent successes of nobody schools and relying on that as the antidote to realignment is pretty short sighted.

ACC adds Cal, SMU, Stanford. In 2036, Clemson and FSU depart. Intractable differences between the remaining magnificent 7 (more football minded, UNC, NC State, Miami, VA, VT) and the New 3 (west/SMU more academically minded) on who to add lead to further departures: ND decides to head to the...

I tend to agree with what you stated above - UConn should join the frankenstein "best of the rest" conference (PAC-12) football only. I don't think it'll be viewed as "in the club", but it will probably enhance its general reputation

    The Demographic Cliff and UConn

Great point. Not to get into politics, but the recent shift of power in the NY Senate from upstate/LI to the city should remove some of the special/local interests necessary to close down some of the universities in rural areas, concentrating on the bigger centers. It will be a sad day for those...
