This has been an issue since the dome work was done several years ago. It has been a far more significant problem since that work was done as compared to the original. The contractor who did the upgrade work has stayed involved with trying to resolve the issue with limited success. They have...
The identified Big East entry fee has been stated as 2.5 million by several sources. There are also reports that UConn will not receive a full share of conference revenues for up to 5 years after joining. Hopefully we have good negotiators but I haven't seen evidence that would make me hopeful...
Doing a quick check on-line, all current bowls have contractual tie-ins with conferences. This past year, there were more conference teams bowl eligible than there were slots available heading into the last weekend of the season. Army was 9-2 at that time & ranked #23 in the country & was...
.
UConn better have a trick up their sleeves. In the short term, this is going to be costly to an Athletic Department already in deep do-do financially. I guess we'll see in the long term
There is a pretty significant paperwork process that had to be submitted to the NCAA confirming MD could no longer play for medical reasons to enable MD to stay on the schollie he is on but have it not count in the number allowed per season. Once the application was accepted by the NCAA, a...
My understanding is that minimum seating capacities to host NCAA events were incorporated during design for baseball & softball stadiums. That should not be an issue. I was part of the initial feasibility study committee; the end product turned out different from the initial concept but being...
I went to the CWS in the mid 80’s when I was still in the coaching world. It was the old 8 team true double elimination format. Weather wrecked the tournament; took 11 days to complete. I had to leave after 8 days so I missed the last 3 games.
Discussion likely has been had over the past weeks with potential options identified. If MD decides he would like to continue playing, the discussion will go in one direction for resolution. If MD decides he not lacing up the sneaks anymore, then the discussion goes another direction for...
If we didn't have to pay Diaco to leave, RE wouldn't be the head coach. More money would have been available to pay a HC which would have expanded the "candidate pool". Bring back RE under those circumstances would have been the lazy way out...
NCAA athletes have 5 years to complete 4 years of eligibility from the date they 1st enroll in classes. The NCAA would have to grant a 6th year of eligibility if an appeal/request is filed by the athlete and/or their school. While this has been occasionally granted, it is not common.
Agreed. Of the three, it seems that Ricky should land on his feet somewhere particularly after being "cleared" by the NCAA. That is unless we haven't gotten to page 2 of the story as Paul Harvey used to say.
Doubtful they would extend to the proposed men’s distance. More likely they would extent to 20’9”, the women’ international distance. They past few sets of rule changes has to get more inline with the women’s international rules.

Actually, they are considered a recruit in many ways by the NCAA until they attend their 1st class. I learned this 1st hand when Swin Cash came her freshman year. Her step-father & I were high school classmates in the Pgh area who remain in touch. When she came to campus to start classes, her...
No, they sign a financial agreement. The craziness of this is that the agreement is non-binding for the player but binding for the university. Football is now dealing with this where a grad transfer “commit” decommited & is going to Tulane; Edsall has stated that he not sure if he can use the...
Definitely not a paid agent. They may use an adviser of some type that can assist, but they also cannot be paid. Technically cannot be anyone in a position to influence her towards representation after her eligibility is exhausted.
These have been adapted from soccer. Such protection is becoming more common internationally. I've seen them on occasion when highlights of international basketball have been aired
I also thought it was pretty cool & probably coincidental that the Astros are home this weekend. It was neat seeing some of the posts on the UConn baseball page showing the team at Minute Maid with Springer yesterday afternoon.
