When a player enters the portal, their current program is under no obligation to honor their scholarship regardless of whether they find a taker. I would imagine if there are no takers, after talking their parents down off the ledge, they would fund their education themselves.
This has been the modus operandi of the state for years: chronically underfund the state's university forcing them to come begging for more money, then after chastising them for being wasteful, force cuts. Athletics is frequently in the cross-hairs.
By the way, before NIL, an athletic...
I feel so bad for the players who remain. Not only have they lost their HOF coach, but they can look forward to hours and hours on a plane to different time zones. Depending on their majors, that may not be possible. Basketball, with all the practices and games, takes a toll on social life and...
Isn't it interesting that in both Women's and Men's basketball, the NPOY was a generational, two-time winner and neither one of them brought home a championship?

Obviously the best thing for her. I'm sure there are plenty of D1 programs who would love to have her. As a matter of fact, I'm surprised she didn't go last year.
It's absolutely ridiculous that there's no big conference on the West Coast. They don't care about the student athletes, just the revenue from football.
Fox Sports has yesterday"s quarterfinal replays posted so I assume tomorrow they will have the semifinals posted. I would really like to see the first 5 minutes!
When Aaliyah came back in, you could see that the facial swelling was already starting which would be typical for a nasal fracture. If she has slits for eyes today, I'm guessing she won't be playing in the rest of the tournament. As other posters have said, a mask won't be practical until the...
We all laugh about Nika believing she has never committed a foul but that could be her undoing. A foul is what the refs say is a foul. Period. It seems to me that after getting called for a couple of fouls, a player should be able to determine how tightly or loosely the game is being called and...
Could anyone hear if the crowd was yelling "Boom" when we put up a three? I couldn't tell. Although, come to think of it, the way we were shooting threes, they should have yelled "Clunk."
Since so many posters credited the MLK Day game against Tennessee as their introduction to UConn WBB, I am posting this link where you can watch the replay of the game on YouTube (and boy does Geno look young!)
The first game I ever watched was on Martin Luther King Day in 1995 with UConn playing Tennessee. Because of the holiday our office was closed but we had a skeleton staff, myself and one other person. At the time I didn’t know anything about basketball. I couldn’t tell you the difference between...
