Recruit from Croatia? Inside Track? Oliva Vukosa 6'4", and still growing? What's not to like. A tall recruit not bound for South Carolina, Stanford and LSU? Lets get on THAT bandwagon.

UConn - Notre Dame post game

Hidalgo was following her shot. She knew where the ball was going, mostly to the bottom of the net. And she must have some hops, for a 5'6' guard to get 10 rebounds. We still lose rebounds when two of our player are on the ball at the same time.

UConn - Notre Dame post game

We didn't matchup well against them. The lane was open for Hildago to score at will. The few times she was blocked she was able to hit an open defender. Small Big East teams are not great preparation for skilled teams with size. Fatigue must have been a factor when ND ran away from us in the...

    Caroline out for the season

So nobody's surprised, nobody, saying. "suck it up Caroline. get it together'". It should not have come down to this. IMHO her vulnerability was apparent for all of us to see. Hopefully she can now heal and begin a meaningful rehabilitation, without time constraints.

Aubrey Griffin Has ANOTHER year of eligibility AT UCONN

Griff should use this time off to work on her midrange jumper. If Nika could put in extra time by "working her ass off" and improve, then Audrey and Amari could also benefit. Short term it's paid off for Nika. I can't believe it wouldn't benefit the other reluctant shooters.

    Tale of Kiah Stokes

Kia was critical in final four wins over Notre Dame, coming off the bench to stifle any and all comebacks the Irish were attempting. They went at her, hitting her in the face a few times. She winced, but persevered, the physically superior athlete.

It’s official - Ayanna out for the season

Is there a better way to deal with orthopedic vulnerabilities? Playing less, more time in the pool less time on the floor? There was quite a lot of info on Azzi's two knee operations in high school. A compilation of players at all colleges lost for the season or longer would be helpful...

    The Guardian on UCONN

HAVE to agree that she's a great athlete, HOWEVER, that athleticism has to acquire a repeatable jump shot, one that requires focused practice. Once accomplished she would be an all-around WNBA performer.

    Is It Time to Panic?

She has become a "project" and may always have been one, but miracles could happen. If a fire could be lit, and one of the coaches took it upon herself to fan the flames and every day is catching and shooting drills and and bouncing off a large practice player. Amari has added another inch, so...

    Ball St Postgame Thread

Have to agree with all this, BUT Aubrey has to get a pullup jumper or the bigger defenses will sag off her, daring her to shoot or set up a brick wall into which (we've seen this) she will risk serious injury.

Geno Calls Out Paige for Poor Play

Geno: "Uh Paige, I'm gonna try to light a fire under these guys by coming down hard on you." It's a little gamesmanship, you know? Nothin personal. Worked with Tina and Stewie. I know nobody was open to get a pass from you and you were triple teamed and the clock was running out. And they...

Geno Calls Out Paige for Poor Play

The others have to move and call for the ball. If the others don't have confidence in their shot making abilities and are throwing up bricks, what choice does Paige have except dribble to get open?

    A Sad Day

We got Dorka and Lou, Yea. They got Cardoso and Morrow, Boo. It appears that we have to milk the portal and the overseas to hold our own. And our players and recruits can't ball 12 months a year.

    Readjusting the team's strategy

I agree that AG in particular should only shoot during practice. She's got the dribble drive down. A mid-range jumper could open up the paint for a variety of offense. I've ranted on this, asking our surplus of coaches to focus on this dynamic to propel AG to an All American performer.

    11/27/23 AP poll

Last year TWO TRANSFERS, Dorka and Lou, a true post player and a sharpshooter helped to maintain our lofty ranking. Without them, we were marginal at best.

    The Time Has Come

Lou and Dorka carried the freight last year. We were saved by the portal. Aubrey has to develop an outside shot she trusts and Amari needs to get a post presence. Our many coaches have to work with them, one on one( daily) until it happens. And the hungry frosh will eventually fill the other...

    The Caroline Factor

I have to agree that Caroline is not (IMHO) the key to the Husky's anticipated, season turnaround, leading to the Final Four. To me, she's never appeared sound, since her injury, or a sharp shooter, a la Azzi, I've filed that hope under fan wishful thinking. And it was the first reference...

We need more players to shoot the ball

Aubrey has a 29-point game on record. They weren't ALL steals and drives. We have a glut of assistant coaches, one should take AG aside and just shoot, until the majority find the bottom of the net. She's an athlete. She should be able to get it, and if it becomes a condition for playing...

What’s the long term plan for Amari?

Aubrey shoots when open. Minnesota sagged off her and packed it in. At that point in the game, CD had missed twice leaving Page as the only outside shooter. Watch Aubrey shooting feathery foul snots, the ball resting on her palm. It is a soft shot, vintage Oscar Robinson. She needs to...

Top 3 Things You Want To See Against N.C. St. On Sunday

Amari remains a mystery. A 6'6" and if not injured? her failure to date to maximize her height and ability to run the floor makes little sense. We have enough coaches to work with her one and one, shooting, moving without the ball, all the work centers have to put in to improve. If Amari is...

    UConn's 23-24 Non-Con Schedule

Let's play and practice more safely. It's always been trumpeted, "Uconn's practices are harder than their games!" Then, Paige, among others is out for season from an Unsupervised? pickup game? There has to be a better way. Not saying I know what that would be, but something. Now that LSU's...
