Seeing the "Clingan sucks" takes is so funny. He effects the game in SO many ways. He had a monster box score tonight, but that only measures a little bit of his impact on a game. We are so lucky to have him.
Stephon Castle is a STUD. Tonight he showcased everything that makes him a top 10 pick.
-Locking down Devin Carter
-Animal in the paint, great at drawing contact
-His 3 point shot isn’t nearly as big of a deal as it maybe seemed early on. It’s just in game reps.
Kentucky won't be going anywhere with that 73rd ranked defense. If they don't improve defensively they're gonna get bounced by a hot-shooting mid major.
Super young team though so plenty of room & time to improve.
It's not as simple as just putting Castle off ball and setting screens for him to get open. Castle is a hesitant shooter, and other teams scout that and would defend accordingly. Going under every screen, giving him plenty of space, etc. It also affects how the other players on the court are...
And a major reason that Stroud is so successful is that DeMeco knocked it out of the park when he hired his OC, Bobby Slowik. It's not as simple as "Stroud is amazing and therefore so is DeMeco."
C.J. Stroud had an amazing rookie season for 2 reasons. 1-He's an awesome player. 2- DeMeco made...
It's kind of goofy to assume Jerod Mayo will fail just because he is a defensive coach. Look no further than what the Texans did with DeMeco Ryans this year. Ryans crushed it when he filled out his staff, specifically when he hired Bobby Slowik. It's gonna be important for Mayo to do the same...
Yeah it was a lot of fun! I got to play with a couple of the guys that left when Frank Martin was fired at South Carolina. Erik Stevenson, James Reese, and Devin Carter. Those guys are all so good and it was really awesome to have the opportunity as a hoops fan to play with them and see how good...
He's gotten SO much better since his days at South Carolina. Always was a plus defender and excellent athlete but he's a lot more skilled than he used to be. I used to play pickup with him a lot and his shot and ability off the dribble has improved immensely. Fun player to watch.
It's not something that's extremely common across college basketball for a couple of reasons.
-Forcing the ball into the mismatch has to happen quick, otherwise it allows other defenders to dig in & help
- Also increases the risk for tipped passes & deflections because everyone knows where the...
I'm really bummed watching the decline of Villanova basketball. I think they're a solid team, but losing Jay Wright was a major blow for that program and college basketball as a whole. I really think he was the best coach in the country from 2014-2022. It was really refreshing to see each...
I really just want to see us execute at a higher level and otherwise be sharper. It's something Hurley talked about as one of the positives about the 10 day or so layoff we've had since St Johns. A chance for the team to get some rest and reset. We played a monster OOC schedule and that can...
