Well that’s my point what are UConn fans going to do - cancel and change their health insurance or buy a F-16? I’d love to see one of the CEOs of these major companies tell their shareholders why giving Charli D’Amelio’s dad $5,000,000 to give to amateur athletes creates shareholder value.
I don’t get why these large multinational companies would support UConn athletics NIL? What would they get out of it? Memphis at least makes sense since FedEx holds the naming rights to their arena.
This would be great. The portal guys are good, but I've always thought we need someone who can do more than shoot. Based on the limited videos on Twitter this guy has "it." Plus the obvious NBA future is a plus. Getting guys in the NBA consistently will do so much for our NIL and program -...
I like what Providence is doing. I think there won’t be much different between teams 2-9 this year especially if Creighton loses Kalkbrenner and Ashworth so they have a chance to be at the top of the BE standings.
Sure, which is my point. Clingan is obviously better and a generational big but Reed is perfectly fine. I just chose not to use their per 40 stats because Reed doesn’t have the usage Clingan had so I looked at points per FGA and rebounds per minute played instead to help account for that.
I just want to add that if you gave Clingan and Reed each 20 minutes and 10 FGA based on their career averages Clingan would give you 15.8 points and 7.3 rebounds and Reed will give you 13.2 points and 5.7 rebounds. Clingan had the benefit of playing in an elite offense while Reed played for a...
I like this post because not counting Diarra since he’s graduated and has to opt into a 5th year we currently have 1 PG (Nowell), 5 wings (Stewart, Ball, Ross, Apostolos, Abraham) and 3 posts (Karaban, Johnson, Yousseff).
If a play in team wins a title going 7-0 does that diminish our titles? It’s harder to win 7 than 6. UConn played by the same rules as the UK and UCLA teams we just stunk.
I think what I like most about our two most likely portal targets is we are building toward a strong core for 2026 while being able to compete for a Final Four in 2025. McNeely fits the mold too - doesn’t seem to be a one and done.
I’m perfectly fine with 6 buy games, home vs B12, Gonzaga in NYC and 3 in Maui. We saw how much the committee valued beating up on bad teams so might as well keep doing it. I also think it’s a good idea given how many minutes we will be replacing next year.
It’s really simple. Elite assistants. Elite big men. Your core players don’t portal every year. Bat 1.000 in the portal. Recruit a lottery level talent every year.
Why don’t other coaches do this?
Hausen is perfect. He comes with an elite skill and Big East experience for a coach who isn’t getting the best out of him. Not a guy who makes Solo insecure either. Win win.
