    Dream season Pod

I was a sophomore in college and on Monday morning, would literally run across campus to the library's main reading room to check where the team was in the USA Today poll. The Big East tournament victories remain some of my favorite UConn MBB moments. I am listening to all of the episodes and...

    Hurley on PMT

This was a tremendous listen. Coach Hurley was relaxed and enjoyed bantering with the guys... especially the Villanova fan. I really appreciate how he speaks about the program as an organization. He is on top of everything. As for the NBA, it is very consistent with his ambitious, hard driving...

    Transfer Portal Window 2023

You don't need him to score. You need him to be a pain in the ass in defense and a facilitator on offense.

I'd roll out the red carpet for Posh right now. Hurley would get him to buy in. Superior on-ball defender and facilitator.

UCONN vs. Ohio State Game - 3 Things You Would Want To See

    1) No foul trouble for Edwards. 2) Pre-injury percentage of 3 point makes for Fudd. If you get #1 and #2, they are a lock.

True. Much like with Calhoun and the men, it is always difficult to follow a legend. I'm the women's game, Tennessee is the prime example.

    St. Mary's Post Game Thread

I thought he was great tonight. Went to Clingan despite Sanogo dominating in the block because of 1) defense and 2) they can run their full offense (no constant dump downs)...giving Hawkins,.Newton and our other perimeter guya shots. The kill shot run was with Clingan. I liked going to Joey C...

Miller inherited a talented, veteran roster and added an experienced guard out of the portal. Hurley inherited a dumpster fire. Stop it.

I agree that we have to get out of the first weekend. When we tip it up for the second round game, the pressure on this group will be immense.

Fair point, but much if that stems from the fact that that's when we were in the zone.

    Marquette Post Game Thread

Hurley didn't go 4-22 from the field. Newton and Hawkins did. Hurley didn't get in early foul trouble and become a non-factor for the rest of the night. Jackson did. If Joey's pull-up 3 in transition goes down, Hurley's a genius. Stop it. Next week is coming. I'm looking for the second weekend...

I think that this is the clearest explanation for not calling the timeout. Newton just didn't see him. The decision to not call a timeout gives this board all the material it needs until tomorrow night, when many of you will be able to move on to predicting a first round upset.

Fair point. I don't fault the looks Joey got down the stretch. As for the last play, I agree with the no timeout strategy...but our last shot was rough.

    UConn-South Carolina postgame thread

Agreed. Heroic effort. SC is big, deep and very, very physical. Great game plan today. SC was given the perimeter shots and they were off... which is what we needed. Cardoso was just too big. She converted her shots and was very good for the free throw line. Tough no call on the handoff at the...

Amen. I am not sure who the PG will be during the closing minutes. Newton and Diarra were both bad tonight.

    Tristen Newton Has No Pulse

The second half turnovers against the trap were maddening. That's nothing that can't be fixed in practice. at 6'5", he can see over the traps and make the necessary pass. Diarra was limping at the end of the game and Hawkins had been out of the flow for so long that Newton and Jackson were the...

    OT: Connecticut College

The college application/selection process is brutal for the student and the parents. The merit aid game is maddening. South Carolina Postgame Thread[merged thread]

Tough one tonight. They got beat in all facets of the game. I feel for Williams and Nelson-Ododa, but I feel most for Westbrook. She left it on the floor tonight and played until she couldn't stand. The team showed some resilience, clawing their way back into the game on multiple occasions...

    Transfer Portal

I think that this is a fair point. For whatever reason, and I'm sure Coach Hurley has his reasons, Diggins barely played this year. In this age of the transfer portal and no longer having to sit out a year, I think the practice of developing rather than playing freshman may be coming to a close.

    Kimani Young!

Coach Young is going to be on everyone's short list. I think that he kept the team focused when it would have been easy to become distracted. He drew up terrific plays down the stretch. Polley's 3 and Cole's 2 were great individual plays stemming from schemes drawn up in the huddle. The only...

    James Breeding

As a whole, the officials let the guys play. With regard to the technical fouls and the objection, that was awful officiating by Breeding. You've just T'd Hurley up for banging the scorer's table. Fine. Explainable. After the T, you have moved away from Hurley to cool the situation. Good move...

A pat on the back for Gaffney

They are a different team when he is able to contribute. Hopefully last night did wonders for his confidence. He ran the offense, hit his free throws, played good defense, and most importantly, didn't have any of the mind numbing dribbling miscues we had seen of late. It was good to see Cole and...

No surprise. No counterpunch from coaching staff.

I am a huge Hurley guy, but his absolute refusal to abandon his stock man to man for any reason hurt him today. Richmond carried Seton Hall for most of the second half. He did so by using his size and backing us down in one on one situations. 17 straight points? You have to go to a zone at that...

It wasn't long ago that Coach Hurley made the difficult decision to bench Gilbert in favor of Gaffney. That was a difficult decision but it was made because he thought it gave him the best chance to win. He has it in him. I think it is time to reassess Polley and Gaffney's minutes. If they come...
