    Northeastern v UConn 2/20/16

Can finish anywhere between 8 and 11 (technically 12, but UMass has PC, so let's be realistic and give them 12). Don't want UNH. Would rather have to go to Vermont or Merrimack.

Jerry is a go-to for soccer. He received a media award from the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2004, and he and his son both do work with Fox Soccer still.

Jerry Trecker would show up on occasion, but it was only a couple times a season. I think he was freelancing for the Chronicle.

    UCONN vs Providence

I was the only person covering every UConn home game during the 2012-13 season. It was me and Mike Anthony the following year.

That's how the Olympic sports usually work, anyway. Women's soccer usually plays USF/UCF or SMU/Houston on the same weekend trip. That's not something that would have to change. Sometimes done in groups with sports like volleyball.

I'm pretty sure that any team in a sport sponsored by the Big 12 has to go to the Big 12. Men's soccer the only one in flux. Lacrosse and field hockey are already in the Big East.

    UCONN vs Providence

In this situation (I don't know about others), I see two commenters with a shortsighted view of the staff and a young squad. All I was getting at. I'm not on here a lot, but I know hockeyfan is his own level of nonsense.

    UCONN vs Providence

Well, until the last few weeks, I covered nearly every UConn hockey game for four years, observing from an impartial, objective angle, so I have a pretty good idea of what I'm talking about. It's not a subjective statement to say those guys improved from last year. Even if it's not an...

    UCONN vs Providence

Drake is definitely one. I'll give you three more who come to mind: Kyle Huson, Jesse Schwartz, Jeff Wight. Latter two have done really good things in all three zones that won't necessarily show up on stat sheets. Huson has taken advantage of his opportunities and is going out with his most...

    UCONN vs Providence

You really are the most delusional person on a website infested with crackpots. It blows my mind when you say stuff like this. His team doesn't play for him? They don't respect him? A couple of the stupidest things I've ever heard. You can quit hoping Cavanaugh gets fired. Not happening anytime...

    UCONN vs Providence

Kunnas and Drake already hurt, and now Austin is out tomorrow with a head injury. Have to dress an extra forward tomorrow (probably El-Mir, unless Ronan is good to go). Injuries were an issue last year, Austin's the most problematic. They've been an issue in 2016, too.

Lost on the road to the national champions, a team that is 10th in goals for and goals against per game, and fifth in the Pairwise. #FireCav

The top five is all nine points ahead of the other seven teams in Hockey East and includes the national champion, national runner-up, Boston College and two other national powerhouses. Yea, you go out there and overtake them in Year 2, former Atlantic Hockey program. You didn't deserve a...

Wore my Cyle Orlando jersey. Wanted to see a 3-1 win with a Cyle goal, but happy with the result. Thought Jordan Morris was pretty uninspiring tonight. Big fan of the U-23s in camp. Always enjoy watching Ethan Finlay for the Crew. I'll take it. Probably one of the most successful January camps...

    Best we've looked

This team drives me insane. I was fully expecting to be happy with a four-point escape. What about this team at any point this year suggested a 20-point win on the road after trailing at the half was remotely possible? Awful from three. Called for a ridiculous number of fouls. Still blow Memphis...

And then a young crop of goalkeepers lead by Horvath provides promise. I love the crop coming up. The U-20 team was fun to stay up through a 3 a.m. match for in New Zealand last summer. Like the future a lot. Hope CCV starts seeing time at Spurs. Making things tricky, though, is Spurs'...

No shock there. I'm a Patriots fan who loves Kraft, but I can't root for the Revs because of the way he managed the team. Vamos Orlando!

FCHPP is coaching J.J. Watt and Vince Wilfork. Totally irrelevant to this thread, but it hurts my head. Agree with this. UConn did what it needed to do. I think the most important thing is it didn't lose recruits between the time of their verbals and NSD. Great job by the staff.

Great to see. Tsantiris has done a great job recruiting lately. If not for the freshmen on defense last year, UConn is not a top-10 team. Nine players graduate this year (unless Hunsberger can and does get a medical redshirt?) but there's still plenty of depth. Having some impact freshmen...

    1) Recruiting rankings are stupid. I've been thoroughly impressed with what I've seen from the incoming freshman. I don't care about the number next to the school in February. I care about what I see on the field in October and November. Rankings are almost never a good gauge for that. Dom Amore...

At least Colorado and Dallas have their own stadiums, unlike New England. It's miserable going to Gillette. I'll only go for a game there now if I'm going to see Orlando City. I'm thrilled Minnesota United, with collaboration from the Twins and Timberwolves, defeated the Vikings in the Battle...

Oh, I completely agree with this. I'm really happy with the situation he landed in post-Rangers. Was worried about his career for a quick second back then. Colorado is one of the reasons pro-rel will (for the foreseeable future) not happen. Cheap owners of struggling teams like Colorado and...

It's been phenomenal. Personally, I wish MLS did better in those Sunday slots. I think that's a great opportunity. My friend and I get together on Sundays to watch "The Walking Dead" and "Game of Thrones," but she always comes early so we can watch the MLS games. They go on the computer when the...

I think he was expecting the red carpet and didn't get it. He subtweeted MLS a few weeks ago after the Colorado rumors emerged. I agree it probably won't be soon. He did just extend with Nantes last season. We'll see. Honestly, if he leave Nantes, I'd love to see him join Le Havre if they get...

    UCONN vs Brown

Hope Hayes doesn't take that as his only impression of the Huskies! (Doubt he does. Rather, no way he does.) McLellan is killing it. Had a great goal show up a few weeks ago. Gained the zone and tooled a defenseman and the goaltender. Great hands. I want to see him play on a line with Letunov...

One question I've always meant to ask Joe: Does Cav show up at recruits' houses, unlock his phone and swipe through a slideshow of his future NHLers? What he's been able to do already says so much about is reputation in the hockey world. It's going to keep getting better. From what I've heard...

    UCONN vs Brown

All these defensemen we're talking about are freshmen and sophomores, sans Segalla. Huson the lone senior, and he's proving reliable because of his experience and leadership. Another assist Tuesday. Tough position. Can't come in and lock down right away. Not every defenseman is Noah Hanifin.
