I have seen her play often and I am impressed by her progress over the years at Cal. As I have said before, she is the real deal, and a legitimate first round pick for WNBA.
I live in Berkeley now, with season tickets to UCB women. While Cal is not yet at UConn's level, Anigwe is the real deal. She is a premier player and Gottlieb is a good coach.
UCB has other good players, including a star first year student. I am hopeful that they will do well this year.
Great thread! There are some fans of women's basketball out in the world, however; my husband and I have been fans of the women's game for over 25 years. A couple of years ago we moved from CT to northern California. Now we watch many games on WatchESPN, plus have season tickets to UCBerkeley...
I think my first posting here was to report that I saw Kelsey Plum play vs Cal in January and concluded she is the real deal. Now everyone gets a chance to see her play!
Sal B.'s statement about life lessons starting at about 7:15 minutes was profoundly eloquent.
It was gratifying to hear this heart-felt advocacy for women --indeed, for anyone.
It is a tough year competition-wise for guards. I have seen Wiese play live, but only once--and I also saw Kelsey Plum, who impressed me more.
But I would take Courtney Williams over either. She is really really good.
I see that you have the posting listed, and also that someone else has posted it---probably this should be removed now. I just didn't want the fans to miss Araton's article!
Great piece about Stewie in the New York Times:
