True enough, but I've always felt that any Huskie who was awarded the National Defensive Player of the Year should also be included in those making the wall. Afterall it's one person not one of five or ten All Americans.
All this doom and gloom is nothing if not premature. I'm going to wait until the end of the season to make an informed decision. That's not "rose colored glasses" that's giving this team a chance to adjust to the hand they've been dealt.
I was curious about a post that got 350 or so views but no comments. I don't live in CT so I have no idea about prospects but it's still a good question. Keep posting.
To watch Nika develope from the hard nosed Nika who, either ran over or ran through, opponents into the Nika who set a record for most assists in a season has been special. This is a testament to the recruiting philosophy that could see the potential in a young woman from Croatia making her...
I'd find it hard for ESPN to not focus on Paige. The NPOY and winner of every award she was eligible for, as a freshman, is coming back for her senior season after two years where she was either injured for a large portion, her sophomore year, or out for the entire junior season and coming into...
My thoughts entirely. Speaking for myself, I'm looking forward to the season with a lot of anticipation and excitement. This could very well be NC#12. But nagging in the back of my mind is the specter of someone, anyone, on the team coming down with a season ending injury. I'll need a season...
We've become a country of victims. If someone, in this Jeff Jacbs, suggests that a player with the talent to go on to a D1i program should think about a year or two at a prep school to better improve their skills the high school coaches make the suggestion out to be a slam at their players. As...
Well that certainly reads as "a glass half empty" assessment of this year's team. I'm going to try the "glass half full" picture. Using your projected starting five, which IMO matches up better or at least the same as any other in the country, let's move onto the bench. Nika just set a...
There isn't anything else she can do. Try to recruit, and retain, your incoming players. But if your recruits don't feel as though their getting the minutes, they deserve they may be gone. The grass will look greener somewhere else. It appears to be the new reality in college basketball.
Recruiting? She's going to make recruiting obsolete. Just go to the portal and get what you need. Center, check. Wing, check. Guard, check. Done and dusted.
First of all we have no indication that she is interested in UConn and vice versa. But if she is indeed interested I'm sure Geno and his staff will have a heart to heart discussion with her about what would be expected of her, both as a player and teammate, before any commitments are made on...
A well deserved thank you. I think the best indication of how our moderators do are the positive comments of visitors from other WBB who praise the overall civil tone of the threads and comments.
Like a lot of the posters, I agree that Kim is unquestionably a great coach. As for the rest of the package, wild clothes and outbursts, I think she is trying to take the heat off her players. Look at me and leave my players alone. She pushes the envelope as far as she can and it works.
I'm 76 and I have no problem having an image of Paige on my T-shirt. Paige is going to try and share as much of the NIL as she can with her teammates. That's a good thing.
I think this just sets the stage for next year when the Huskies will have at least four potential All American candidates. Paige, Azzi, Aaliyah, and Nika. Nika should also get a lot of attention for national defensive POY.
Alright, I'm indignant , accusing you of belittling and being mean to the three players. I'm not going to call them high school players because their not. But I agree that they contribute very little to the overall effort, and thus the team is obviously SHORT HANDED!
I agree Jelly Bean. This is an exceptional group of young women. Let's enjoy their grit and talent this season, but can't we get our hopes for next year?
That's a great roster. No question about it, but didn't we go through the same process last year? Injuries, as we all know, are random. As they say "the best laid plans", etc. This year was supposed to be everything last year wasn't. How'd that work out? I have zero expectations for next...
I wouldn't put Patterson in the "project' category just yet. She's going through the normal growing pains that happens when you transition from HS to college. Especially a program like UConn's. DeBerry on the other hand is a "project". Let's not forget that Ice Brady was supposed to play...
