    Geno, on Paige

Paige improved her BB IQ by closely observing the game when she was out for the entire year and partial year earlier. She was like a coach on the bench and she constantly gave insights and she saw the game even slower than usual. I wonder sometimes if the 6 injured players watch the game as...

Washington Post picks UConn to win it all

Geno used the BET to prove to the team that they can play 40 minutes of "in your face" defense and still be fresh enough to run the offense. They played 3 days in a row and even Ice went 40 minutes in the last 2 games. If UConn plays that D for the entire game they can compete with anybody...

    Jackson State info

Just did some preliminary research on Jackson State WBB. The website was not as friendly as I would have liked. I am not a real tech person anyway. Their league is not real strong and they went 18-0 during the season. Best info I gathered was they are a very guard oriented team. Their 5...

    UConn-Villanova postgame

I agree with DefenseBB - Q had a productive game. She played 14 minutes and scored 5 points, had 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. She looked quick, agile, and mobile. She hustles and plays hard every second. Geno must like what she is doing in practice because she got the bench minutes.

With Coach now tied with Coach K

Unless Stanford's coach had the same assistant for all of her Stanford wins and at the other schools (Ohio State, etc.) which would give her 7 more than CD, then it is CD all the way.

Number one reason for the 5 losses

Hey charliebball - I am giving all the credit for winning those games to the other teams. Yes, they scored more because they hit their shots at a much higher %. Looking at the SC game, for example, many stats were EQUAL. UConn lost and SC won because of the shooting %. SC gets the credit for...

Number one reason for the 5 losses

First I want to mention that other posters and pundits have said what I am going to say. The number one reason for the losses is "Open Looks - Shooting Woes." Let's start with the SC game. Check the stats - the game was close in 4 major areas. Turnovers were even at 13 each. Offensive...

What Stats help more or hurt more?

First, I know there is a plus/minus for value and playing time. Personally I have not delved into it deep enough to have a clear vision. I know there are some very astute posters who can lay it out in an "easy to understand' fashion. Anyway I just wanted to focus on a few stats that don't get...

Analysis and Comments - Game 19 - UConn vs DePaul

Great post as usual. I look forward to reading the info you have. It's a great starting point in my analysis each game. What I found very interesting is that 5 of their players (the transfers) all came from big time programs. Obviously they must have had good HS careers to get to Notre Dame...

    LSU type schedule has Perks

I forgot to mention a top priority for most of us--keep the starters fresh and not over worked. Check the number of minutes per starter for the season. Everyone is under 31 minutes. Well rested so far and the BE schedule should keep them well rested. One more thing. Less stress for the...

    LSU type schedule has Perks

Many posters went back and forth about LSU's easy schedule and Geno's (play the best.) All in all in a regular season I follow Geno's method. However, we now can see how an LSU easy schedule (UConn vs BE) has many benefits/perks. Geno rarely played freshman in the past. Of course, out of...

    A little help for Q

Q did show that she learned something in the SJ game. When her 3 pt shot is not falling she has to drive to the hoop--keep driving or dish. She attacked the hoop a few times. She is quick and agile. Q had a great move on a break that showed her "Aubrey Like" skills.

    A little help for Q

I agree with Geno that Q can be very valuable to this team. Like any player that really cares--sometimes they try too hard. They want to do everything that might help the team. On other threads many posters suggested that playing good D is the beginning to becoming a better scorer. I agree...

    Satisfying, Traditional, UConn's current Game

How about some Non-traditional, but very satisfying info on the current UConn situation. Quick--don't check or ask anyone else---Name the 5 UConn players starting the 4th quarter against G town. For those who are concerned about the players getting "over worked" UConn has played 40% of the...

    OT: This is cute/amazing/wonderful

Thanks Nan. It brought tears to my eyes. If this girl is our future we are in good hands.

    Identity

The next six games (3 & 1/2 weeks) are with mid-level BE teams. If the biggest concern is over working the starters then it should be easy to fix that. Geno just has to play Q, Ice and some Amari enough to rest the starters. The next six games should have moments where the score is big...

    Ashlynn Article

Why is Ash so open during the entire game? Talk about moving without the ball. Ash had it ingrained (no more thinking--it's natural) that you only have two ways to move---you move to the basket or you move to the ball!! It makes it easy to learn. You have two choices. A Move to the basket...

    Q to step up!

Aubrey's injury was heart breaking as many have posted. We wish her well. It seems sudden, but Q is the next player up! I mentioned in a post last week that Q would be next in as a contributor. Also, Geno has mentioned recently that he has high hopes for Q. To many it looks obvious since...

Analysis and Comments - Game 13 - UConn vs Marquette

Lots of good analysis here. I enjoy the slightly different perspectives from each poster. Helps keep me thinking and questioning. I like Massey ratings. Massey's predictions seem to be very close most times. Massey has Marquette at 19th. Massey thinks it will be closer than a lot of...

    Disrespected Again

Hey Milford, I was thinking the same thing. Best coach ever is Geno until someone breaks his 11 titles, 110+ wins in a row, 14 straight final fours, etc. etc. Just looking at the last five years or the years since his last title---One has to lean toward Dawn and Kim with 2 titles each. That's...

    The freshmen

Since Ice is a big, just wondering if she is staying out near the foul line rather than down low--because of her injury/recovery. Will she get into the basket area more in the future as she gets stronger? Or will she follow Amari's lead and look to pass from the circle as a standard play...
