Big 12 is screwed no matter what. Best case scenario, the current 10 make decent money until 2025 and then when the contract is up, no one will pony up that kind of money with 4 members that in the early 2000's were essentially Conference USA teams.
Someone will have big shoes to fill. It was inevitable that he would retire soon, as he is 68 years old. 2020 would put him at 72 years old. I imagine there will be many great candidates to choose from whenever the time comes for the B1G to advertise for a new commissioner.
Looks like the ACC will move to 20 conference games in basketball....

"In addition to potentially increasing the strength of schedule for the entire ACC, an increase in the conference schedule means two more home-and-home pairings for each...
Speaking of B1G shuffling, today is July 1, 2016, which means Johns Hopkins Women's Lacrosse is now officially a sport affiliate member of the B1G, the second affiliate member of the B1G.
Ok, here is your blockbuster realignment scenario concerning the University of Chicago.........
On the Big Ten Board on Scout.com, it was mentioned that the University of Chicago threatened to leave the CIC if a non-AAU member school were added to the consortium in the future.
If the B1G...

Also, the University of Chicago is no longer an official member, but will continue collaborating with the B1G in programs related to library services, IT, language instruction and other areas.
I think outside the box when it comes to conference expansion. What if the B1G approached the 4 California schools - USC, UCLA, Stanford and Cal - and offered them membership to the B1G?
How the B1G benefits:
*4 highly ranked AAU universities added to the conference
*The State of California...
I don't think anything would happen in court even if it did go that far (which I highly doubt it would go that far). Utah didn't join the PAC 12 because it threatened legal action. Utah joined the PAC 12 because at that point, the PAC had no other viable options to choose from since the Texas...
Here is why I don't think one single university can ever have a national network: not enough inventory for programming. Even with 14 universities, the BTN and SECN still air repeats over and over. I don't think there is a game that has aired on BTN that I haven't seen multiple times. If you...
I agree 100%. I have no idea what Delany's end game is, but I'm confident he will get what he wants. He might even have a Plan A, B and C and will go with whatever one works out over the coming years. Maybe his plans include UConn and maybe they don't. I have no idea. What I do know is that...
I disagree. If anything, the P5 will just break away and form their own Division. By your logic, the Universities of Maine, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota, etc. would have sued a long time ago.
The ACC was stupid when it came to expansion. Adding private schools and schools in states within the footprint where an ACC team already in existence. The B1G knew why adding Rutgers was important. The ACC could have had Rutgers ten years ago. It went with Boston College instead. Had the ACC...
I would say there are more B1G Alumni in CT that would be outraged at BTN not being available in CT and complain to the cable companies than there are CT residents who would be outraged BTN is included in their sports package.
I have SECN and PAC12N in my package, and I'm not complaining. I...
Maryland and Rutgers will not be equal members at the start of this agreement, as they will still be in their "phase-in" period. Nebraska will be an equal member at the start of this new agreement. So whatever the numbers are, 12 schools will receive equal shares, with Maryland and Rutgers...
Off the top of my head, if you factor in everything, I think each B1G school will get somewhere around $45 million per year when the new agreements take effect.
Interesting article on the struggles of Rutgers in the B1G from a competitive standpoint. No surprizes there really. I think the article is a little bit too hard on Maryland, stating that Maryland is only good at sports no one cares about (women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, men's...
Middle Tennessee pros/cons of joining the AAC are discussed here:
Could MTSU make a bid to leave for AAC?
Article talks about CUSA schools likely wanting out since the new contract is so low. Realistically, most of these schools have nowhere else to go but CUSA.
