    Protective Headgear

I wonder if they do some fall training. Unfortunately there are some instances in which the head contact cannot be avoided - some trips, collisions with other players etc. Helmets can prevent or lessen concussions. The falling on cushy towels analogy works. I ride horses and helmets are...

Shout out to the refs in the UConn-DePaul game

I may be in the minority here, but I would have liked the game to have been called more tightly. One of the best things about WCBB to me is the freedom of movement and passing and running. I am not a fan of a "physical" game. I dont enjoy a game dominated by pushing and bumping in the post...

Do you think was a good idea to move the final 4/final to Fri/Sun over Sun/Tues?

I wonder if they could push the preliminary games to earlier days? Anybody know what the time gap is when they go to two regionals? Just occurred to me that will mean there wont be a "regional champion" since two teams will advance...

"Bueckers went into a phone booth and Paige "Buckets" reappeared"

But if she "takes over" from the start, arent we left with last year's scenario? Everyone else stands around and waits for Paige. And if the other team's defense is effective against Paige, others are not experienced or comfortable "taking over".

    Saturday attendance

I was at the game. There were many empty seats that certainly didnt show up as available when buying! Small student section with kids, I believe, still on break. Still, I would have guessed 7-8,000.

    Gampel question

Just got my seat - chair back! Pretty cheap if you go to the UConn website. Secondary sites are more expensive at this point with fewer seats. Appears to be designed only to download to your phone - no paper option.

Paige: The Means to an End

Anybody else notice Paige's hospital bracelet? I had noticed it last game and she still wore it at the beginning of last night's game. Seems like she ripped away the injury when she discarded the bracelet before entering the game.

Paige Bueckers expected to miss rest of regular season

Even if she were ready and got all the okays from doctors and coaches, I don't think Paige would deliberately try to return to games on Senior Day. Why? Because it is Senior Day and she knows that her return would steal the headlines from the seniors who deserve it.

    Tennessee Postgame thread

The team beat ND and Tenn this season. :D Always want those wins, no matter how the other team has been doing. Couldnt really enjoy the ND win due to Paige's injury, so this one is especially sweet!

Former Husky Saylor to Ark. [merged thread]

    Finally.....

I liked this pairing. It was more of the old-school "color commentator and play by play person" situation. When nobody is really a p-b-p person you tend to get that chatty irrelevant stuff. Ruoco mostly kept to the game and Lobo could add in her insights. In other games with Lobo, her...

    Iowa's Helping Hands

I think everyone deals with competition differently. I would not interpret helping an opposing player as "lacking an edge". It is good sportsmanship and for all we know the player was thinking "I knocked you down and now Im going to smile and help you up so I can knock you down again!" ?

Discrepancies in the Bubble/Treatment of men vs women (merged)

Have the "swag bags" always been so different? I wonder if it is a bit of a strain since I doubt that all 64 teams got them in years past. I get that WCBB doesnt have as much sponsorship, but it seems like some things (the puzzles?) are really head scratchers. Alone, however, this wouldnt be...

Coach Shea Ralph leaves Bubble and returns home!

Does anyone know what the rule is for coaches returning? Geno has been isolating - does this mean when the time is up that he can rejoin the team immediately. Or will he have to isolate in Texas like everyone else did? I would imagine Shea would have to quarantine before returning since...

Strictly Speaking Logistics: What's the NCAA Going to do with the Tourney in TX?

The problem is that the affected player has already been in contact with teammates and possibly opponents who can carry and transmit the virus. So one person sitting out doesn't do it. It would affect future games. BTW, it helps to use recent rather than historical data when evaluating the...

Strictly Speaking Logistics: What's the NCAA Going to do with the Tourney in TX?

I was a bit surprised at the initial decision to have 64 teams there. Quite expensive for teams from distant areas with little chance of advancement. I kind of thought they might go to some local play-in games for the lower seeds first. And unlike in past years, the "Tourney Experience" will...

Azzi Fudd at Tonight's Marquette Game

Thats it! Azzi is not allowed to watch Paige in person until she is enrolled at UConn! First there was the Tn game in which Paige struggled until the game saving shot. Then this game. Nope, she is not bringing good luck!

OT: Sean Connery has died. [merged thread]

I have a sort of Sean Connery story. It starts with me being in the emergency room with chest pains and a suspected heart attack (it turned out to be an ulcer!) After the initial assessment they seemed to think that I wasn't in imminent danger so I was laying there waiting for test results...
