I read All the Light We Cannot See at the same time as watching the mini-series. Managed to stay pretty un-confused, and it was interesting to see how they abbreviated the book to cram the story into the time slot. Agree it maybe could have used a few more episodes, but overall I think they...
That, “Closed for a fire on the kitchen”, “…oven repairs”, “…kitchen remodeling”, etc, is usually code for, “We’ll be back open again as soon as we pass the health dept inspection.”
Noma closing reminds me - I saw "The Menu" last week. Must-see movie for anyone who ever heard of Noma (this article was first I ever heard of Noma, but I'm just a country boy). Takes the celebrity chef horror genre to the whole next level!
Just watched the first episode of “Wednesday.” Was never a big Adams Family fan, but this is funny - and good! The girl who plays Wednesday is good, and Catherine Zeta Jones is a great Morticia!
I saw these recommended for fans of Sopranos, Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul, Ozark (me):
Queen of the South (Netflix)
Bloodline (Netflix)
Weeds (Prime, Peacock)
ZeroZeroZero (Prime)
Anybody seen any of these?
Modena isn’t far from Bologna, the acknowledged food capital of Italy and IMO the world. The restaurant I mentioned was owned by Luciano Pavarotti. My company (factory in nearby Correggio) had a subscription to a table - always theirs whenever they wanted it.
On my first visit to a fancy restaurant in Modena they gave me a free dessert: Vanilla ice cream with 25-year-old balsamic vinegar on it. The thought sounded repulsive, but that gooey, viscous stuff was amazing - like strawberry syrup only better. Then they gave me a small sample bottle to...
Check out "Unorthodox" on Netflix. One season, 4 episodes, each less than one hour. Orthodox Jewish woman escapes the oppressive Brooklyn cult, flees to Germany. The cult sends an "operative" after her to bring her back and avoid the embarrassment for her husband and the whole tribe. But.....
Guaranteed this same exact story will appear next year on a FF dead day.
Voepel: “You got anything for me? Anything at all?
Geno: “I’m all tapped out on bashing the NCAA, and beating the drum for WNBA one-and-done. Can’t we just recycle that ‘move the 3-point line out’ thing.”
Voepel...

I’m a Yankee fan, so let me quote Sensei John Kreese (bad guy in Karate Kid) from this season’s Cobra Kai: “There is no good or evil - only weak and strong.”
I thought it was pretty clear that Voepel meant we shouldn’t have any team going to 13 straight FF’s again - UConn or anybody else. Not that UCONN doing it the first time was bad, but now there’s more parity and that trend should continue.
Geno defends Kim, says her post-game COVID comments are the result of their conversation before the game regarding an NCAA report to the coaches that additional positive tests are unlikely...
Mystery solved on who “Pepper” is (very young sounding interviewer on a couple recent press conferences). Read down in the article and there’s a blurb about 10-year-old journalist Pepper Persley. Been covering WBB for 4 years. Has 2 podcasts and works for Howard Megdal at The Next. Howard...
Evina will be in the WNBA. Nika will be invaluable as a backup point guard for Paige. It would be a big decision if it wasn’t Azzi Fudd. Even so, it may take a couple games. But you will see that decision is a no-brainer.
