Gary Apell of SNY said it best

First, the call against KK on this play has no impact on the call against Edwards except to fuel feelings some have that the game was fixed. That said, the broadcast after the announcers questioned the foul on KK showed the play from a difficult angle and there was contact. In my opinion, it...

Iowa Doesn't Want A Caitlyn vs Paige Show

All three are well spoken in my opinion.

NCAA scheduling question/nit: men vs women

I understand that - so why not have the women play days 1 & 3 throughout the tournament. You get to the same result for the final weekend and both sides of the tournament have equal time to rest and plan.

What is Paige thinking? Caption this

Aboard the USS Enterprise XI, her flag officers looking on, Captain Bueckers uses finger telepathy to learn from the holographic image of Admiral Auriemma how best to navigate through Hawkeye space.

NCAA scheduling question/nit: men vs women

Our women played their Elite 8 on Monday and are playing in the semis 4 days later on Friday. Our men played their Elite 8 on Saturday and are playing in the semis 7 days later on Saturday. Through the first 2 weekends of the tournament, the men have been the first up playing on days 1 & 3...

    HBCU’s and scheduling conundrum

I enjoyed and respected Gino’s post Jackson State game’s comments but in thinking more about what he said, it highlighted for me the scheduling challenges UConn has On the one hand, I take him at his word that the best HBCU programs are significantly overlooked by Power 5 (soon to be 4)...

    Players Pregame Presser

It’s actually worked. My two NY granddaughters (ages 7 and 9) now love sports and are each in competitive swimming, basketball, and soccer. There’s a short time period when all three overlap. Add in Girls Scouts for both and theater for the older and it’s totally nuts. The family knows that...

    Players Pregame Presser

Syracuse University makes a concerted effort to attract families as fans through very inexpensive ticket packages that allow you to attend multiple sports including women’s basketball. My daughter’s family is taking advantage of this.

Geno Practicing For The Big Dance

Shhh - mustn’t say things like this. It will only serve to reinforce the belief at Rocky Top that the media is biased in favor of UConn! :)

    Jackson State info

Looking at their team photo, I’m impressed by the size of their roster. Not height size but roster size. I count 17 players.

UConn not in Albany? Portland bracket here (merged)

Yes. I watched the show in Syracuse while with my daughter’s family. Eye rolls all around. And as someone else mentioned, that was followed up by butchering Holy Cross.

    Men's & Women's Conf Titles

I watched a YouTube clip yesterday where John Fanta interviewed several of the players as well as Hurley. On more than one occasion Storrs was called the basketball capitol, and I think it was Karraban (sp?) who said the men have some catching up to do with the women for number of...

    Fairfield Game

Not that long ago, you occasionally heard the same thing from those skeptical about women’s bball as regards our Huskies - that a good boys high school team could beat us. Glad we don’t hear that much anymore.

OT: Georgetown names Darnell Haney head coach

Agreed - get the best you can. As an OT to this OT, I sense growing support on the part of the Tennessee faithful to hire away from the Pat Summitt tree and they don’t care whether the next coach is male or female. They just want competency.

OT: Georgetown names Darnell Haney head coach

My opinion of Haney went from neutral, based initially and solely on limited television screen shots during the regular season and seeing him in person at the tournament, to extremely positive while watching his post game commentary after Monday’s game. (I was also very impressed with Bennett’s...

Villanova at UConn replay is available

I watched the game yesterday via the Fox sports app so I don’t know if the commercials that aired on SNY are entirely the same as what I viewed. The BE conference ran, at least twice, an ad promoting the upcoming tournament at Mohegan Sun. I understand that politically the BE has to treat all...

    UConn-Villanova postgame

Edwards came close to having a double-double in the first quarter so clearly her production diminished as the game went on - which is not to say that she wasn’t still making great contributions with her defense. I know she was being mobbed and I thought she was showing some signs of tiredness...

    Lordy It Never Stops

I have heard enough interviews of Paige to truly believe what we see in public, viv a vis the fans, is truly who she is. I also think who she is as a person is reflective of the majority of UConn’s players currently and over the years. Although I don’t think this is a motivator for her, I...

Tournament ticket available for Friday (only)

I bought three tickets for the tournament for myself, my brother and my son-in-law. However, my son-in-law can't attend the Friday round of the three play-in games so I have one available. If you are interested, please send me a private message. My guess is that the first round is lightly...

    Senior night ceremony poll

I like the change. But the whole experience reminds me how incredibly spoiled we’ve been with the team’s 30 year run of unparalleled success. I might be wrong, hope I’m wrong, but I would think senior night for Xavier this year won’t be/wasn’t particularly joyful.

    Ice gets a highlight video

Basketball referees are like most people in that they will have an unconscious tendency to call plays based on a player’s reputation. (When I worked in schools, saw this time and again - some students were almost “doomed” before the start of the school year based on a bad rep.) Since Ice has...

    UConn - SJU post game

It was frustrating that they were saddled with fouls early. But I agree with Maples observation in post #5 as regards the officiating. I thought too many of the fouls were ticky tacky and that this was one of the more poorly called games. And overall, I thought St Johns got the worst of it.

UConn - Notre Dame post game

Brady is showing real improvement the last few games. Another step in her development would be the ability to quickly close in front of a charging guard like Hidalgo and take a charge or two. (Well, perhaps not a guard as quick at Hidalgo but your average guard perhaps.)

Question for those who have purchased BE tournament tix

Question for those who have purchased BE tournament tix

Yesterday, via the Big East website using my desktop computer, I purchased 3 tickets for the tournament. Right after I received a "no reply" confirmation email (ostensibly from the Mohegan Sun Box Office) with a Ticketmaster email address. And the Apple Wallet send a reply acknowledging a...

On this date, 2011: Samarie Walker

You make a great point and clarification and I thank you. Heck - on winter mornings here in Wisconsin’s north woods, when it’s often near or below zero, I’d love to stay within the confines of my flannel sheets longer than is practical. Two golden retrievers are at fault here!

Thanks for sharing and linking the article which I thought was really well written. It’s an important topic. One of my kids went through terrible experiences even before she was a teenager and there were times we thought we might lose her. I am so proud that in the long term, she didn’t let...

    Watching games

For what it’s worth, yesterday I sent Fox a note asking why some games are replayed and others aren’t, with a request that all UCWBB be replayed. It will be interesting to see if they respond. (I am learning to not have high expectations, and equally important, to have lots of patience. I am...

    Watching games

Perhaps someone can help me out here. I have a Hulu Live subscription, but for the most part UCWBB games that originate on SNY aren’t available for me to watch. If I remember correctly, this wasn’t the case last year - I made the assumption that something changed contractually. Am I...

    MJL & MR ARUK YouTube

It’s a mystery for sure. Up until last September, our internet was provided by Frontier that came through our phone line. Terrible service - slow (download speed <2!), unreliable, dropped service hundreds of times per month, etc. One result of the interruptions was I often wound up with new...
