    Gordon Sammis Named OC

That first series in game 1 against NCState was amazing. I thought we finally were turning the corner and good things were on the way. Faganno played great. Then we turned a corner, into a wall. I remember a play on the NCState sideline on the second possession where he got hit hard out of...

    Gordon Sammis Named OC

I kind of agree with this. But they need to start winning now and can’t afford another swing and miss. My interest in the game has taken a hit over the last year. NIL and seemingly endless transfers has taken some of the fun away. What once would have been a horror (shutting it down) would now...

Matt Brock - New Defensive Coordinator

I don’t believe that guys are recruited to fit a certain system. I think it’s more likely that you cast a wide net and see what you have. Especially given our difficulties. I thought in AAC it made sense to run a lot of 3-3-5 because there were a lot of gunslingers. But ultimately you should...

    UConn o-line recent stars

Was listening to how Texas used NIL to pay 50k to each linemen. Got me thinking about some of the recent good players we’ve had. How about this: RT Matt Peart LT Ryan Van Denmark RG Christian Hayes LG C Jake Guidone Not a bad line. Who am I missing? Who’s gonna play LG?

    Steelers Game, Mora Take Notice…

Kind of agree with this. Puma was like 3rd or 4th sting and he provided a big spark. But I also think mora was really trying to knock the rust off Roberson to see what he had. Only way to do that is keep playing him. I would rather have seen Tucker M play more because he’s the only one we...

It may work out for him at NC state it may not. No one knows. We do know it was working out for him at UConn.

UConn Outbound Transfers for 8/1/23>7/31/24 Cycle

You’re probably right. Can’t help but think of us as top tier university that competes at the highest levels ( see b-ball, hockey, baseball and just about everything other than football). Saw a tweet form a UMN player announcing he was stayin at MN and rather than go to a winner he was going...

UConn Outbound Transfers for 8/1/23>7/31/24 Cycle

Geez, if I understand correctly, many of you seem to be saying, "if you're good don't come here. If you get good, leave." Don't believe it or understand it coming from "fans". BTW, don't care one way or another about guys who leave.

    Justin Joly making an impact

Sorry don’t buy this argument. Maybe 50 years ago but now the NFL finds you if you can play. And as much as our recent results have been poor, the players are easy to find. I’d argue his chances are much higher staying put where he is all but guaranteed to be a featured performer not one of many.

    Justin Joly making an impact

He would get drafted succeeding at UConn. When did UConn players worthy of being drafted not get drafted. NEVER.

    Justin Joly making an impact

Totally disagree with this. If he’s shown enough at UConn to have Tennessee notice him, you can bet the NFL has too. As far as your slam against the QBs, Roberson might not have been great, but he was better than average. There aren’t a lot of great QBs out there. By your logic, anyone...

UConn Outbound Transfers for 8/1/23>7/31/24 Cycle

A few thoughts: The overall quality of play is going to take a big hit across the board with a lot of guys coming and going every year. A lot of guys leaving for NIL money will be riding the pine at their new home. At what point to boosters pressure coaches to play guys that they've invested as...

UConn Outbound Transfers for 8/1/23>7/31/24 Cycle

And if they stayed they could have showcased their game. Specially Turner who would have taken most of BUCKNAM’s snaps.

UConn Outbound Transfers for 8/1/23>7/31/24 Cycle

I do think the overall quality of play will take a hit with all the roster shuffling every year.

UConn Outbound Transfers for 8/1/23>7/31/24 Cycle

Look,Roberson won the job two years in a row over Turner because he practiced better. The reason Zion got no time was every snap was important in getting the rust off of Roberson and speeding up his development. I think Macdonald got in the Umass game because he’s a local with fam and friends in...

Carter was a bigger loss. Would have liked to see him behind this good o-line. Personally, I like the running styles of both Edwards and Rosa better than the other two who left. They both remind me of Rodney Hampton types. Some speed, some shiftiness and a whole lot of toughness that wears...

    OT: Boyle still hanging on

I think the reason he's still in the NFL is his great physical skills. He's got a great arm that was evident the first time he hit the field for UConn. I thought we had another Matt Ryan type. Plus he's big and he can move. He's almost a perfect 3rd string/scout guy in that he can throw to...

    It's the offense.

The announcers in the last game seemed to be impressed with all the motion and formations Charlton used. Maybe, but the plays they ran made no sense to me. We have 3 backs who run well straight ahead and between the tackles. I would run there and play actions off of that. Be under center on...

    Defense

I agree there was time to throw it deep, however I don't think they wanted to challenge the obvious speed advantage the Vols had. Is it worth throwing a few up and hoping for a penalty, sure. I think we'll see more downfield stuff in the next three games.

    Tenn post game thread

There are many FBS teams that would be destroyed by the Vols. Looking for positives: Roberson was protected reasonably well. You have a short memory if you don't recall the "jail breaks" on every pass play that recent QBs had to deal with. The Line did ok on straight ahead blocking. Both...

'Confidence has risen': Ta'Quan Roberson seizing opportunity as quarterback for UConn football team (Hearst)

How does having ZT take some snaps mix it up? He's not a runner and not as good a passer as TR. The team gives enough series way with play calling to give away on silly substitutions.

QB, time to open it up…

Couldn't disagree more. The two biggest drops were easy touch passes. Not fun to lose and there must be someone to blame. But it aint him.

Weird decisions. Going for it in our own territory toward the end of the half (dodged that one). And not going for it when we were moving it at Will in their territory with the game on the line.

UConn @ Boston College Eagles (Saturday 10/28/23 @Noon on ACCN)

Haven’t seen BC at all this year. I know they squeaked by HC and beat a bad GT team. What I hope happens: We can score a lot more than last year’s team. If we game plan, if we catch the ball, if Rosa can go even to give Cam a blow, if we contain their running QB. We are not outclassed up...

QB, time to open it up…

If the theme of this is "Try other guys at QB", then this is one of the dumber ones ever posted. Roberson is getting better every game. The OLine is doing a great job of protection (Sheriffs and Pindel had to run for their lives). Problems are dropped passes and the inability of coaching to...

Another competitive game, another gut wrenching loss. More sad than mad. Whereas past teams rarely competed against AAC level teams, this team would be in every game. The timing of the losses with all the conference realignment rumors is another reason to be on edge about the future. One of...

The View From Section 241 — Rice

The special teams have been so bad. I think we are going to start seeing more starters (or guys in the rotation) playing on specials. While there is a core of guys who have the desire and ability to compete, they haven't played on specials. Positives: Roberson! The O line. I don't recall him...

Why is the Offense So Terrible?

I’m a fan of zone blocking. It’s a fundamental skill that can be used regardless of what your offense is and, more importantly, regardless of what the D does. In theory, you don’t have to game plan for every possible blitz combo. Just master the rules for looking in and out and functioning as...
