Jay Bilas is once again showing respect to UConn. Bobby Hurley is now a friends of our program. I listen to JJ Redick podcasts from time to time.
I'm not comfortable with having positive reactions to any, never mind that many, Dookies.
I'm just glad Syracuse is still completely despicable.
Georgetown has fallen badly over the start of this century, but it has the potential to get even worse.
They currently share a downtown arena with the Wizards and Capitals. The owner of those teams is planning to move them to Virginia. If that happens investment around the arena will completely...
I remember when Shaq hit the league and every team started to want multiple bulky centers just to have something to try to throw at him. Teams were falling over themselves to acquire 270+ lbs players.
I wonder if Wemby will have a similar impact in making teams go nuts for 7'2"+ players with...
Exactly. I think we could reasonably have been ranked a few spots higher, but this keeps us hungry. Yet it's not so low as to hurt recruiting. I hope we keep being ranked around 8 or so until the season starts.
Landing this generational talent would be amaze.
Losing out to Duke would blow.
But I know our future is bright either way. I love where Coach Hurley and staff have our program.
Many of you have expressed concerns about Coach Hurley's play calling in the final minutes of tight games. I do hope he puts those to rest eventually.
In the meantime, I'm fine with his workaround of completely annihilating every would be opponent.
The stress from that first half didn't do my expected lifespan any favors. Worth it, though.
That was just the test they needed. Exactly the response I hoped to see, too!
That was UConn basketball. Strong, long, intense and locked in.
We shutdown a good team desperate for a win on their home court. Got key offensive rebounds and constantly hustled.
Couldn't ask for a better cap to the regular season.
Wow, this is a great analysis!
Given how many minutes he's played as a freshman I would not have been surprised to see him tire out and hit the proverbial wall. To instead see such improvement is really impressive.
I wonder if this indicates the value of the semester he spent training with the...
Yeah, scoring a two-way contract with a team with championship aspirations (Philadelphia), winning the NBA dunk contest, and scoring a shoe contract with Puma. Not a bad 5-day stretch!
Saw him play a game on the Warriors summer league squad and he was all over the court. I think he has a chance...
Fair enough, I may have overstated that. What I meant was the overall OOC performance of the rest of the conference was underwhelming. It was looking like a down year for the Big East. Now, with five of 11 teams ranked, that picture seems a lot different.
I'm not sure there has ever been a a team that has helped their conference as much as we have so far this season. You couldn't ask for a better OOC then we had, while the rest of the conference was mediocre. If I remember correctly, we were about the only ranked team around the start of...
I live far from CT, but have a neighbor who is a fellow UConn alum and fan. We gave shrugs of misery whenever we saw each other the past few falls. We mostly stared at the ground while commiserating about how the mess on the field was painful enough without the asinine excuses and whining of the...
I like the OP's mention of leadership gains, too.
I can't think of anyone better qualified than Whaley to call out a young player not giving it their all, especially on the defensive end.
Last season he was coming back from an ACL tear and did not get a full preseason to prepare. We did not see the most complete version of the player he can be, as indicated by some of the flashes his junior year before the injury.
I don't think he would have made the choice to come back after...
As a Knicks fan, I hated Jordan the Bulls player. I respected the heck out of him, though.
It's a completely different story with his efforts to develop players in his post-Bulls roles. I hope for him to be successful, for nostalgia's sake and to help make the league more interesting. His style...
I went to ESPN's NBA page this morning to see how they were dealing with Team USA's loss to Australia, and was excited to see that the top picture on the page is of James Bouknight! It is part of the lead in to a story about how the draft can fill certain's teams needs.
His UConn jersey is...
Other than the fact it would’ve been great to make a March run, this played out like it should have. I’m excited to watch a young UConn shooting guard make waves in the Association again!
Wow, thank you for this analysis!
All their size on perimeter is going to be a serious challenge for Cole, especially if he is not back to ? yet. I hope he is watching film of Boatright’s 2014 performance against Kentucky.
While I’m wishing, it would be great if Whaley could pick up some...
