I coached a kid that had a full ride to Iowa, PWO to Michigan and choose Harvard football. One of the best athletes I have ever coached (and I’ve coached kids that went to Big10, ACC, NFL, NHL and MBL) and took the Harvard route.
Oh course there is a big difference. Even with USC wanting out, who would have thought they would go to the Big10. Washington and Oregon will be fine. Being part of the money starting in 2030 and a place at the table means more that just about everything. They kept their biggest rivals (each...
Yeah, Rutgers and Maryland were geographic adds. Their biggest asset is their location. Nebraska was the first after PSU and were in a transition period (no more prop 48 or taking risks on behavior issues). I also believe changing their identity from an option team hurt them as well. It set them...
The Big10 learned a lot on how not to add schools from the PSU addition. They did votes in secrecy, even from their own AD’s. When coaches like Bo Schembechler and Bob Knight found out, they blew up. Many AD’s thought they had no control and the presidents were just going to do what they wanted...
Otherwise known as The Dude of West Virginia, the scourge of CR Twitter back in the day. He’s the original CR Twidiot. Funny story, the first place Flugar was featured on Lamberts Twitter where he was Big10 Man. They had a falling out and now don’t like each other.
Not only is it good ratings, but FSU puts the Big10 schools brands front and center in Florida’s population. Recruiting general student population is huge for the Big10 schools. The marketing alone will be huge. Throw in all of the current Big10 alumni that live down there and now you’ve got...
Um. . . Depends on what $130Mish means but that’s a low number compared to what’s been thrown out previously. Still pretty high, but most definitely not a road block like the $300M to $500M that was thrown around.
Here are the 6 that he says will move.
SEC: UNC, Clemson, NC State, UVa
B1G: FSU, Miami
Has a caller (LOL) that he seems to think has some validity thinks Kansas or VT could pair with FSU instead of Miami.
ACC lawyer says Florida had 3 Power 5 schools: Florida, FSU and UCF, forgets to say Miami.

Poor Sebastian, says they are committed to the ACC and the ACC forgets them in a court of law. Doesn’t mean...
My thought of the day. LT How will this affect the D2 teams, especially football who are made up of many walk-ons. Would a walk-on get paid or would you have to have an athletic scholarship to get your salary? If you need a salary, couldn’t a school just not give out many scholarships? D3...
Why would the Big10 take UVA over FSU? It doesn’t get them any more money. They didn’t take the best academic D1 school in the last go around (Stanford) and the top school in the California system Cal Berkeley), why would they take a lower rated school that doesn’t even come close to making...
Here’s the article:
https://www.thekeyplay.com/content/2024/march/26/sands-and-whit-have-1-job-right-now-get-sec-or-big-ten
I actually prefer VT to UVA. I think their football would fit very nicely in with the Big10. They have a rabid fan base and have had success.
Now they aren’t above ACC...
I don’t think it’s about tarnishing reputations (the Big10 has had too many issues with scandals worse than a academics lately), I just have heard that their current administration (likely due to the donors wishes) currently prefer the SEC. Maybe ESPN has influence, I don’t know, but that’s what...
I think the Big10 would love to have UNC, but this is a 2 way street. The impression I get is they want the SEC and that’s where they will end up. The Big10 just can’t say you’re mine and that’s that.
Miami is a unique draw to the Big10. They have a bunch of alumni in the area and a connection...
Their ratings are a notch below FSU and Clemson. I prefer Clemson, but Miami is now AAU and in a huge metro area on the opposite direction of FSU in a very populous state.
I think FSU is important to the Big10’s strategy. Putting big brand programs in almost every corner of the US is what they are heading for. There’s a huge hole in the SE and FSU is the best school to fill it. Clemson works, but FSU is the big catch and would be a great partner. Miami would be a...
Michigan and OSU have already pushed back on playing Friday games. Michigan didn’t even play a home night game until 2011 and the lights weren’t permanent at the time (they are now). Penn State might fight it as well. Anybody else is fair game.
Sure, they would love for them to stay together. Yet none of the quotes above signal they would be able to stop or even try to stop either from leaving the ACC.
Even if they did say they would prevent movement, politicians say almost anything to get and keep votes. They would lose votes if they...
That’s a different story. That’s strong-arming to bring up a school to a conference that UVA was a part if (even had a higher level of influence). The Virginia legislature would have no pull with the SEC. As said above, Washington-WSU and Oregon-OSU were supposedly tied to the hip. UCLA and Cal...
Do they? The only instance when they did keep someone from leaving was Texas to the PAC and I’m not sure Texas really wanted to go.
Will the state politicians be willing to tick off the UNC and UVA alumni/fans by holding them together? They could, but will they?
But how does this show basketball being more important? If the football powers of the ACC all leave for greener pastures (and basketball powers if UNC leaves), wouldn’t that show that basketball is less important? Didn’t the football powers of the Big12 leave?
As far as UConn joining a power...
Just a couple of quick questions, who in the Big East is important to UConn? What teams are most important for you to keep playing? Also, what non Big10/SEC BCS football schools would you want to be in a conference with?
Are you talking about UConn in particular or college sports in general. I completely agree with your statement if it’s about UConn. You all are the most important team in the country and as long as you keep winning, it will stay that way.
If you are talking about the college sporting world...
The Big10 will be scheduling Friday night games this year.

I think the players know the outcome, just not the details. They know who is leaving the ACC and where they are going. They also know who the ACC replacements are.
Would you all be happy in an ACC without FSU, UNC and the others? Is the Big East that important to you all?
