A bunch of UConn fans yelling Providence sucks and taunting their fans on the road like we have some inferiority complex. Not sure this shows what you think it does
Sometimes it is just the team. From my seats in the game against Providence I watched Providence grab and hold on every cut from the opening tip, and it never stopped. The refs eventually have to call it and they did. A team like Providence knows it has to do that against UConns offense to even...
I guess FSU is devolving into the old throw everything possible out there in the hopes that something might stick approach. Pointing out that the PAC is better run (maybe it’s two schools are doing well?) might not be a winner. Pulling in Raycom and Swoffords kid to create some sensational...
Absolutely irrelevant for ranking the teams on 1/11/24. Clingan is not playing at the moment, and as much as I hate to write this, we really do not know when he is coming back, what his game will be like, or how likely he is to get hurt again. In my mind you rank on what a team has right now...
Parish rally does a good job explaining Purdue over us, and based on stats he’s right on. We can counter with some maybes and coulda, mighta, but they have better Q 1 and 2, 5 wins against top 20 NET, and beat us on most computer metrics.
I’ll take #2 in college hoops in the oh so critical...
Spot on. People need to remember that the facts in initial claims are often (always?) written in a fashion that seem damning until you get to the rest of the story. And if you have seen enough large corporate filings you have seen that they are often just factually inaccurate.
Totally agree they were nowhere near the same spot, just pointing out how ludicrous it is to make any judgements at 1 year and 8 games. We were ready to assign knighthood to Ollie at year 1 and 2, and many here were still down in Hurley in year 4. How can anyone know what Scheyer will be like...
Really, after one year and 8 games. Imagine if UConn had a coach who only made the tournament 2 x in his first 4 years and did not win a tournament game until year 5. In year 5 he still did not win the big east. We should have recognized at that point we were never going to win with that coach.
I don’t think you intended it this way but even with the editing of games that is a really good schedule FOR US. 4 of those teams go into those games thinking they can beat us. 3 of them are favored over us. We are a terrible football team. 32-90 in the last decade, multiple 10 (or +) losing...
Thinking about this. Can’t NC State elect to move us back 5 yards and rekick, and then take the ball wherever it goes out of bounds? If so, perhaps they get it near midfield, but it does eliminate the late hit part of the play.
Rules junkies???
This
NC State is a Power Conf team.
NC State is in the conference many people feel is a good fit.
Unfortunately our promise to power conferences for football is “Well if we get in, and if we are good, maybe people will come back but otherwise our fan base is pretty apathetic.”
Someone gave you some really bad info. On the UConn site you can buy tickets and there are far more than that available. Looks like 200+ in just these two sections and there are plenty more sections with availability just like it.
Love everyone’s optimism but statistically we have about a 10% chance of winning right now. We are about a 16 point dog, hence the 10% chance of winning outright (based on the college football stats I could find).
Yes, attendance is a cute little stat but has more to do with other factors (arena size for one) than national reach. Arkansas had about the same average attendance as Duke and UConn combined in 22. Probably does not mean they have bigger reach.
How about basketball being one of the top two reasons?? For this big 12 thing to work for us, basketball has to be a driver. Of course geography (Northeast / NY market) is reason 1 by a mile, basketball is #2 right now. Or at least football is not top anything.
Exception to the football...
-Win more than we lose
-Do not have three games where the other team can name the score (ala 2022)
-significantly increase the passing yards per game from 110 (think we were bottom 5 in the country)
I’m one of the people on both sides of this. I can rejigger my schedule any time and will be there when the ropes drop for tailgating regardless of time. Spouse is a teacher…cannot just figure something out with their boss…school is in session so cannot leave until it’s out. Will still make it...
Last night they generally called fouls as they should. I do not understand why people are upset about last night. Yes we got to 8 quickly, but they generally were obvious fouls. As an example, no idea what Diarra was thinking on his. They were all obvious. Other teams bump more (which does lead...
Did u really just write that a college asking to play most of its college basketball games on its college campus would be alienating to fans? Not sure if people actually are aware that many schools surprisingly pull this off.
