I'm sure a number of freshmen will leave even if they are not projected to go very high.
Reed Shepard and Rob Dillingham are projected lottery picks so I'm sure they are gone.
I’d be beyond shocked if Danny left for UK at this point in time. That fan base is nuts (in a bad way) and he’s just hitting his stride in CT. Would be a horrible move!
I was 11 years old when UConn won in ‘99. I grew up in CT so I obviously was aware of the team but was not a college basketball fan at the time and I don’t remember the run first hand. I got to UConn in the fall of ‘06 (immediately after George Mason) and that’s when I started following the...
Bigger NBA disappointment, Thabeet or Bouknight?
Thabeet was obviously drafted much higher but I personally thought he’d struggle in the pros due to rumblings I had heard about his personality and work ethic.
Bouk was drafted lower but he seemed to be oozing with talent as he was leaving...
I don't know about you but I badly want a regular season Big East championship. Obviously, in the grand scheme of things it's not nearly as important as a natty or even a conference tournament championship but it irks me that with all the success we've had it has been nearly 18 years since we've...
Same. Seems like the buzz for college basketball is way down overall. I think the portal has made teams even more anonymous than they were before and few people outside of die-hard fans can get excited about their teams.
It's no secret that March Madness matters above all in this sport but it's...
Got a chance to tour the dook campus and Cameron Indoor earlier this year while gameday was there for the ND football game and, while I've always (and still do) despised their basketball team, I have to admit that their campus and facilities are extremely impressive. I even got to fist-bump...
I honestly think it's more cultural than anything. Northeasterners generally love pro sports (especially baseball and NFL) more than college sports. In the Midwest and the South, college sports are embedded in the fabric of the community. We just don't do it like that up North. It is what it is.
We're the defending National Champs (our FIFTH in 24 years) and just set the record for most double-digit out-of-conference wins in a row.
A board-wide meltdown if a meaningless December game doesn't go well would be peak Boneyard.
Life is good people. Nobody wins them all.
On a related note, how many chances does Billy Donovan get?
Outside of his first year with OKC, he's been very underwhelming as an NBA coach but you hardly ever hear about him being on the hot seat.
Very glad Andre is getting a chance but he’s got to contribute substantially more to the stat sheet if he wants to stick around. Attitude and intangibles will only get you so far.
Unless you're an all-time great like Popp or Phil Jackson, I just don't see the upside to coaching in the NBA besides getting to tell people "I coached at the highest level".
Nick Nurse won a title and was jettisoned from Toronto 3 years later. Mike Budenholzer only lasted two years after his...
I don’t think he left early at all.
I think he’s a young man with all the talent and opportunity in the world and he’s blowing it by making bonehead decision after bonehead decision.
If he is truly dealing with a mental illness that’s different but it doesn’t appear that way from a distance.
I disagree. Physical ability and talent aren't the problem and that's what you're trying to improve when staying in school. While Bouk's career so far has definitely been a disappointment, I've always felt that by young adulthood, people are who they are personality-wise for the most part.
Not...
I have absolutely no hard data on this but I feel like kids who go viral in these early highlight vids rarely turn out to be star players in adulthood.
Remember Seventh Woods? Had a crazy hype vid, one of the first I can remember, as a middle schooler, committed to UNC, and proceeded to...
It’s odd to me that so many people seem to be blaming AD Dave in this. UConn has been getting the end of the stick in conference realignment over 10+ years now and multiple athletic directors. At what point do we admit that this is a structural UConn issue and not an incompetent AD issue?
Seriously! I was at UConn the exact years he was ('06-'10) and by the way he was talking, you'd think he played there 40 or 50 years ago.
The players usually stayed at Hilltop apartments which were considered one of the more desirable places on campus at the time, especially for freshmen.
Is...
No clue about his attitude on the bench or in the locker room but I’m pretty sure he went from 100M to league minimum mostly because the league changed right underneath him. Nobody wants a thick lumbering big man with no midrange or perimeter game anymore.
If anything he should be thanking his...
He may never live up to his lottery draft slot but anybody who’s watched enough NBA could see he clearly has plenty enough talent and athleticism to be at least a solid role player. The league is litttered with dudes who have a fraction of his talent but have been in the league for years (PJ...
Gotta think Whitmore seriously regrets choosing Nova at this point. When he committed they were the premier college program with probably the best coach in the game who promptly exited right before he arrived. They go on to have their worst season in years and your new coach, who led you to that...
