So Who You Rooting For Now??

After today, Houston is a legit Final Four candidate, and has a chance to correct what happened in 1983.

    Next Year's Schedule?

Aren't the Huskies still committed to playing an AAC team. If so, Houston is actually beyond a no brainer. They're now a legit powerhouse, and as an ooc opponent would be a major plus on the schedule. I'm not a UConn guy, and UConn/Houston would be a must watch on my schedule.

Non-UConn, Best New England College BB Coaches All Time

This is easy. Buster Sheary of Holy Cross. 155–36 (.812) People look and see that he won the NIT in 1954 and shrug it off. 1954 was probably the last season where you can make a strong case for the NIT winner as the true National Champion. LaSalle won the NCAAs, but I think Holy Cross was...

    RIP John Thompson

You were the one who accused him of underachieving when he did not. There were two clearly better teams than his that year, and he went as far as he should have.

    RIP John Thompson

I was actually defending Thompson. Nelson thought they underachievd. I don't think they did. They certainly weren't more talented than that loaded UK team, and I don't think they were better than UMass, as was proven on the court. You could debate if they were as good as that year's UConn team...

    RIP John Thompson

That team reached the East Regional Final. They were run out of the building by UMass, but that was a great UMass team. The 1996 Kentucky team is considered one of the greatest ever, and UMass beat them by 10 points. Unfortunately for UMass, they lost in the rematch, which the defacto National...

Rivals old and new: Creighton will be a distant, but dangerous opponent for UConn men

It is a good take. Omaha's the better city, and CU has been more consistently good than Wichita has, but Wichita has been ranked #1, and has gone to a Final Four, CU hasn't. Sounds like a wash to me.

OT: The A-10 will be better than the AAC next year

Shooting for that number 7 spot behind the Pac 12. Three bids a year, four in a good year. Best team usually ranked. Team in the Sweet 16 every year, with an Elite 8 team every 3-4 years. Those are realistic goals for the A10. Would help if the AAC, MWC, and WCC are similar. Those lesser...

    OT: Delusional AAC Fans

They were top heavy, which has always been the issue with what you might call "the super mid majors". Those are the leagues that are clearly better than the one bid leagues, sometimes even putting elite teams on the floor, but are burdened by too many weaklings like East Carolina, and Tulane...

    OT: Delusional AAC Fans

Realistically, this is what they should aspire to. At it's peak, when Louisville, and Marquette were still there, and Huggins had elite teams at Cincy, CUSA was a borderline power conference, which is why the BE became stronger after taking it's best teams. Never comparable to the top leagues...

    OT: cheating at Duke????

I think you're right. That's why I compared them to UCLA. Wooden knew shady dealings were going on, but he made sure that he didn't know exactly what those shady dealings were. Same thing going on here. I'd be shocked if K was directly involved in any of this, but he approved of his support...

    Wake Fires Danny Manning

Tulsa's been the best springboard job ever. Three former Tulsa coaches with National Championships. Can any school match that?

    Wake Fires Danny Manning

How many of these former star players become big time coaches? I believe John Wooden is the only person who is a Hall Of Famer as a player, and a college coach. Yet schools continue this nonsense.

Why are so many high majors involved with mediocre mid-major transfers?

I think what league a player comes from plays a role as well. You'd expect a player transferring up from the A10, or WCC is likely to do more than one coming from America East, or the MAAC, provided they had similar numbers. Also, some guys are brought in to be role players, even if they were...

    OT Favorite Saturday Cartoon

The Stooges being on Saturday morning resulted in a resurgence of their popularity in the early 60s. I remember we went to see them when I was about 4 years old. I also remember that kids that watched were hitting each other over the head with hard objects, and it resulted in a bit of controversy.

OT: Jalen Green spurning Memphis, heading to G-League

This will help college ball by getting rid of most of the one and dones. You'll still have stars in college ball, but now most of them will stay at least 2-3 years, giving the fans a chance to become acquainted with them.

    OT Favorite Saturday Cartoon

It wasn't the behavior that was politically incorrect, it was the artwork that was questionable. It's like why Chief Wahoo was more controversial than the Chiefs having an arrowhead on their helmet.

So many great ones, led of course by the Warner Brothers stuff. We used to watch Herman and Katnip, Popeye, Top Cat. One of my favorites that hasn't been mentioned is this. Loved the theme song as well, but man, that Go Go Gophers is about as politically incorrect as you could get in the 1960s...

Greatest College Basketball Programs In Each State

Holy Cross for sure. They also won The NIT in 1954, and you can make a strong argument that they were better than NCAA Champion LaSalle. 1954 was probably the last year where you could really make that case. The NIT champs for the next decade or so were still usually Top 10 teams, but the NCAA...

"One hit wonders" that actually have other very good songs/other hits.

I think a hit is defined as a record that reaches the Billboard Top 40. Thus you can have that one big hit, and then several more that reach the bottom 60 of the Top 100, and you'd still be considered a one hit wonder. Also, there are many major r&b, and country acts that have tons of hits in...

    NCAA Extra Year of Eligibility

It's sad that some seniors missed out on March Madness, but giving them another year would really screw the classes coming behind them.
