I fondly remember one of the best concerts I have seen Janice Joplin in Woolsey Hall at Yale. Very special.

    OT: Early fandom

I started listening to the Huskies in 1959 with my Dad on the radio. It was either WATR (Waterbury) or WTIC. Been loyal ever since. Graduated in 71. I used to listen to them on WTIC in Hamilton Ont in a rental car on the escarpment above Lake Ontario when traveling on business. We moved to...

    Heat Pumps

The solution we decided on for our 12 room 2 story 4,200 sq foot 1850 farm house with a natural gas single zone forced air system was a ductless air sou rced mini split system. It is a series of 5 external units some with mutiple heads others are single . They range in size from a single 12K btu...

    Heat Pumps

I live in Central New York (and still a rabid UConn fan) with a solar panel system and a ductless mini split system in a 4,200 sq ft 1850 farmhouse. Both have been installed over a year and here are our results. We used our back up heat (a natural gas ducted furnace) just 2 days last winter...

THE song that means a lot to you

Jimmy Buffet's COME MONDAY. I was just married and had a job assignment in LA two full weeks every month. It became our theme song. A very lonely time for us. It still makes me cry every time I hear it even after nearly 50 years.

    shoulder

Wife had a 100% rotator cuff tear (caused by playing in a bounce house with 2 grandsons at age 70) and the surgeon she ended up with does 15 shoulder a week. Experience is everything. Also slept in a recliner for nearly 3 months which saved her and our marriage. Good luck.

We had three sons go to top academic schools and all three were involved in DIII sports. Two swimmers and the other ended up in crew after looking at golf and swimming. While the sports component of college was fantastic and it enhanced their experiences. The education was the key along with...

    Official Syracuse Unintended Hilarity Thread

I was born and raised in Waterbury Uconn 71 (wife Stamford Uconn 74). We moved to CNY in 1989. I have been an avid Huskies fan since 1959. We enjoy both men and women's teams and follow them closely. We resisted a strong temptation to placing a large sign on the end of a barn that read...

Newest Husky Ines Bettencourt [Merged thread]

My wife and just spent a week on Sao Miguel in June. A stunningly beautiful island and the temps were 70 and 63 just perfect. Two great golf courses and really cool volcanic hot springs. Very very affordable. The euro is at par with the dollar. First night I ordered a 8.50 glass of wine. That...

    OT: Connecticut College

The wife and I both graduated from UCONN. We enjoyed it and we are avid fans. Raised 3 sons in a small town. School district K-12 600-700 kids. We thought a smaller college experience would better fit their personalities. The college selection and application process was arduous to say the...

    OT Charleston SC dining recommendations

I agree with the comment about it being hard to find a bad meal in Charleston. We've been to callies many times but we're disappointed with the one in the market. Try King St instead. Hall's is just wow....but very pricey. Charleston food options are amazing for a city of 100k. Seafood...

    Joan Joyce - OT

Did any of the other CT best athletes strike out Ted Williams!!!! I was there that night. He couldn't even get a bat on the ball. The same story for for Hank Aaron 15 years or so later. She was a major factor in every sport she played and in 15 plus Hall of Fames. CLEARLY THE BEST.

Jim Mora Expected to be Named HC

Noticed the $1.5m first year pay after we were ready to pay $2.0m. Maybe they wanted a bigger pool to hire high quality assistants. If so that's a great move. Also his deal with UCLA ends in January 2022?????? I think the pieces are starting to come together.

If you could do it over again …

Started my first 2 years at Sacred Heart U when it first opened (I'm kinda old) and transferred because high school was much harder. Last 2 years at UConn '71 were great. Met my wife there, she picked me up hitch hiking (that was her first mistake!). We haven't kept many friends long term...

OT: Trade-in or Keep and Service

I have an older Sprinter Diesel Van (2010) which has been great but it developed a DEF fluid problem. This a notorious issue with these vans. The Mercedes dealer quoted me $7500 to fix. I didn't think the value of the Van justified anywhere this type of investment. The solution...I found a...

    Week 4: 12/14 - 12/20

I really appreciate the daily update on the games. Does anyone have any idea what networks (if any) that they are on? I have looked on espn channels, cbssports, fox, sny and never, or rarely find any games. Am I missing something or does my cable system just fail me. I am hungry for games.

    Toby Kimball

I've been a UConn follower since 1960. Graduated 71. Listened to every game on WTIC with my Dad. Started with Eddie Slomcenski. Toby Kimball was a dominant rebounder and a very good scorer. Wes was an amazing shooter. I can't imagine what his totals would have been in the 3 point era. This...

OT: Rotator Cuff Tear (me not a player)

I had a rotator cuff problem discovered last May which limited mobility and often caused pain and loss of strength. But like you I could still play golf. OT: battery powered outdoor equipment

Of course it depends on the size of your properties but we have a Stihl battery chainsaw as well as a hedge trimmer both use the same battery and they work great.
