I agree that Ash is quicker than most people (for some reason) seem to think. I liken her to Kia Nurse, but with a good mid-range shot. She can hit the three with regularity, make a layup. and she plays good defense. Like Kia, she made the starting lineup very quickly as a Freshman.
What about Ines? The young lady made a nice contribution off the bench last year because of injuries, even earning some time as a starter, and now finds herself relegated to second to last off the bench if she gets to play at all. She looks miserable. We're only three games in, but if this what...
Lou had 15 points today and at least several assists in a losing effort. Her team had a chance to win the game with 4.3 seconds left but the coach or a player came up with some convoluted play that went nowhere. I may be biased (I am), but i would have put the ball in Lou's hands.
I thought they might, too, but she never even dressed for a game. Maddy Siegrist rarely saw court time in the playoffs so why test Lou's injury at all if she wasn't going to see substantial playing time anyway.
I thought Lou looked good considering she hadn't played in quite some time. I think this was her first game, while the team may have played several already. Sooner or later they may (or may not) discover she is "money" and get the ball to her more often. There are a few teammates who seem bent...
Quite interesting that Lou's opportunities with the Czech league and, as you say, with the invitation to the French National Team camp are a result of her stellar performance at UCONN. I mean she didn't play a second in the WNBA, and she is coming off an injury. I'd bet on Lou, too,
I can't help wondering why she was allowed to play through injury at UCONN unless she exacerbated a previous injury or incurred a new one in her last game? Say what you will about the Wings (many BY'ers were disappointed they selected Lou) , who by the way are playing very good basketball of...
A few years back I needed a bone graft to support a dental implant. The oral surgeon used bovine bone. The cow jokes were endless. And yet I feel a strange attachment to the dairy world.
Agreed, not sure what is going on down there. The coach doesn't appear to use her bench much and I see little reason why their #1 draft pick should be riding the bench as much as she is unless she is perceived to be a defensive liability. They are having a bit of success so maybe the coach...
I'm no basketball expert, at least not compared to many BY's, but she reminds me of a somewhat shorter Aliyah Boston with her size and movement, at least with what I've seen of Boston in the WNBA.
Dorka looks like she belongs. She may be the steal of the draft being a 2nd-round pick and almost immediately cracking the starting lineup....and producing. it's a pleasure to watch her grow on the court. I am equally hopeful her partner in crime, Lou, will get to show what she can do for the...
I agree regarding Lou. She may very well have been able to play on a bum knee for Dallas, likely as she did for UCONN for at least one game if not many more. Obviously the Wings see the same thing in her determination and grit that we all did this past year and are willing to wait until she is...
Lots of really great choices. Here's a guy who's often overlooked.....Leslie West, with 'Theme From An Imaginary Western'. This solo, while not particularly complicated from a technical standpoint, has a clean tone that still gives me goosebumps!
Agreed on Stewie. I always felt Maya was the GOAT but Diana's backers always cited the number of national champions won (Diana's three to Maya's two as a deciding factor) even if Maya holds the record for most points scored at UCONN (by a lot). Hard to argue with Stewie's four championships...
I think Lou will be remembered most by many for leaving everything she had on the floor against Ohio State in spite of a nagging knee injury, doing her best to will the team to victory while most of her teammates struggled. I'm quite sure she'll do well in the WNBA because of her determination...
Exactly. I think we've all learned by now you never count Lou out. You just have to read about her journey to know that her will, motivation, and competitive nature will drive a very successful WNBA career.
"I can't believe that happened to me"
No, Lou, it didn't happen to you, You made it happen, as well as any success you will experience going forward! I'll miss seeing you on the court, as will many others.
