And you're talking about DT or Stewie here? Because it's true in both cases. DT joined a team that had won the NC the year before. Stewie joined a team that hadn't won the NC the year before. DT didn't help her team win the title in '01. She carried her team to a 29-point swing in the wrong...

And made her teammates on the '01 team ... worse? Stewie elevated herself and her team her freshman year, which is something DT didn't do. That team absolutely needed her to carry them and she did it.

Why was decathlon discarded so quickly? Finding the best athlete is literally the point. Beyond that, an Ironman triathlete. Swimming, biking, and running. No rest.

Yup, this. Maya was a very good defender but Stewie, obviously, was amazing. (Diana ... also played defense.) And defense is 50% of the game. And not just blocking shots but defending in the paint in general as well as on the perimeter.

I respect Kara Wolters's contribution as much as anyone but, no, she did not carry the 1995 team. That team was possibly the most talented team in UConn history with Rebecca Lobo, Jennifer Rizzotti, and Nykesha Sales.

This is certainly true :) But, often (but not always), when UConn won its titles, it was the best team by quite a bit, which was not the case when they were sophs through seniors.

The system can bring you to a certain point but, now, at this point, it's the players you put into the system. The last bunch of titles was won with Stewie, Maya, and D. Without those players, UConn was very, very good but not title-winning good. KLS and Phee were both incredible but not on...
