More Husky history - Nykesha Sales

Nykesha was Kelly Farris, and Katie Lou combined into one body, Absolutely loved her defense.

The Lou effect (merged with Lou has become a leader)

I loved this entire play, late third quarter I think it was, game very much in doubt, the warrior known as Nika grabs a defensive rebound just below the foul line, turns and heads up the court in overdrive, Dorka takes off with her, and unnoticed by me at the time, so does the incomparable Lou...

How did you become a huskie fan?

I was a men's fan, and first women's game I watched was the 1994 loss to North Carolina, became a fan when I started watching the following season CPTV, and was captivated by the intensity and passing, favorites on that team were Jen & Nykesa Sales, I'm partial to great defense.

    Top Three UConn Player/Moment/Szn

Moments 1) DT's back down three point play to foul out Stacey Dales and put the Oklahoma game back out of reach (2002) 2) Can't remember which one, but in one of the overtime losses to ND in 2012 or 2013, Kelly Faris made several superhuman plays in a row down the stretch. 3) Gabby Williams...

Calling BY Golden Hearts and Golden Golden Hearts

I'm 23 months shy of 70, and not hurrying it along. Still working, and I thank God that Geno and CD still are too. Came on board for the '94 Final Four loss, and watched virtually every game from November 94 on.

Gabby Williams and Sopron: Back in EuroLeague FF and a confession

I sure miss Gabby’s play. The relentlessness of Nika combined with the reactions of Lawrence Taylor, hops of Jordan, she can guard anyone. She was so easy to root for.

    Undefeated Story on Barbara Turner

BT was an absolute warrior, who played about a foot taller than her height. The was an LSU game where she held off Sylvia Fowles by herself for most of a half. She almost single handedly beat Duke to get us to a final four in 2006.

An old article on the women’s first scholarship recruit

Nice article, Thanks for posting, I knew the name, but it was nice to get the full background on Chris Gedney. it seems she is a fine all-round person, who is very accomplished off the court. I loved the comment "glad the WNBA exists or I would not get to watch Sue Bird play".

DT on Paige's Position In The Basketball Universe

Can't get any higher praise than that, she hit on perhaps Paiges best attribute, efficiency in everything she does on the court

    Of short and long benches

I stand corrected, I was under a long help false opinion that Kennitra Johnson played some WNBA games, but after doing some googling it is probably not true. I will say this, she was good enough.

    Of short and long benches

I see a lot of posters saying that "Geno likes a short bench" but I disagree completely. I believe the 2000/2001 team was the deepest to date at UConn, and the stats below showed that he play them all. 14 players in all (Battle was hurt after 5 games, Sveta after 19, and She in the 30th) so he...

Did anyone see the Stanford/Tenn game late last night?

The next 3 to 4 years are going to be intense between Stanford and UConn. When Tara has good teams she tends to find ways to disrupt the free flowing offense that Geno likes to play.

UConn stats....the 4 most important minutes vs DePaul...

Yes, the Ladies played great down the stretch, a lot of the threes that DePaul was hitting were jacked up with a hand in the face, not much you can do but try to tighten up. It's difficult to get that top gear back once you have let up in a game, and with a 26 point lead, both the coach and the...

UConn's Mt. Rushmore and Megan Walker

All american level for sure, which puts her in a league with over a dozen non-point guard AA players who would not make a Mt. Rushmore. N Sales, Sveta, Shea, Katie Lou, Napheesa & KLM all come to mind. She's currently scoring more than a lot of those players, if she keeps that up, who knows...
