Geno's opinion on "one and done" in women's college hoops

1 and done can also refer to the incresed usage of the portal. Seems like a coach not only has to recruit potential incoming layers, but also to keep those that they already have. Playing time...

    2024-25 Starting Lineup

I'm thinking that, early on, the starters will be: 5- Jana 4- Ice 3- Paige 2- Ash 1- KK There are 2 ACL's, another knee, and a serious concussion that cannot and should not, be rushed into playing 40 minutes. By tournament time, the recoveries from the injured list from last year will be...

How will Sarah do as a freshman?

I’ve only seen Sarah Strong in McD’s All Star Game, and the various videos in circulation, but she has a killer iut to 3, and a good handle. It remains to be seen how long it will take her to get in UConn shape, especially on defense. Once she gets there, she will be a force.

    Portal Shopping List

I'd like to see Geno pick up a veteran big, and use her and Jana the same way Dan Hurley uses our bigs on the men's side. Geno likes to play an up tempo offense, and this would give him fresh legs everywhere, to wear out our opponents come the 4th quarter. If he gets a big for just one year...

    Ines in the transfer portal

I hope this prompts Geno to pursue a veteran big, who can share time with Jana. Dan Hurley has had a pretty good "big" strategy the last couple of years.

    Ines in the transfer portal

Sorry to hear this. I get it, but I still am sorry to see her go. She bailed our backsides out when we were in trouble. I hope she lands somewhere she gets a chance to play. Best of luck, young lady, and thank you.

    Nika Muhl and WNBA Draft

Nika's outstanding defense last night, not getting into foul trouble, and a good 3 point shot strengthened her chances of getting selected.

    UConn is the Favorite

They have to get back to sharing the basketball, and get away from watching and waiting for Paige to do something great (which she usually does!) When they are open: shoot! Having been there before is what gives us the edge.

    Sweet Sixteen Game Announcers

Antonelli: ugh. Stop, just STOP TALKING! Who just committed that foul? As for Rebecca, I think that she is the best there is, except for when she does the UConn games, as I think that she tries too hard to NOT be a UConn homer.

    UConn Recruiting Speculation 5

I would think that Aaliyah deciding whether to stay or go would be a deciding factor as to where Sarah String decides to commit to.

Number one reason for the 5 losses

I couldn't count how many times, against SC, that a UConn ball handler dribbled along the baseline, under the basket, and out the other side, when a layup/reverse layup, which they've done successfully countless times, was available but passed up.

    UConn-South Carolina game

Now it's 6 against 12, as Q hardly saw the floor against St. Johns. Geno is running his starters into the ground, again. Cardoso's absence won't make a dent in the outcome, except in the SC blocked shots total.

What was the first UConn WBB game that you ever watched?

1985: During Geno's first year at UConn. I was studying Sports Medicine and we had to take various "Sports Techniques" courses. Geno actually taught the basketball class. We had to go to a game (in the old Field House) and write a report on the game.

KK or Ashlynn for BE FOY?

There's still plenty of Big East basketball left to be played, but my answer as to KK or Ashlynn for Freshman of the year, is: Yes...Co Big East Freshmen of the Year. They have both stepped up big time and taken on a lot of responsibility in the wake of another season of devastating injuries...

Guess Who Is Considered the 4th Best Player in 2024 WNBA Draft

With Paige's injury history, along with her NIL success, it would be wise for her to stay an additional year, and let UConn pay for her Masters degree. One can never get too much education, and NIL has changed the rules (relax: I don't mean literally) as to having the need to make some money.

Back 2 Sports: Class of 21 and 22 are a disaster

How about giving Aaliyah a break? She's gotten the crap beat out of her the last year and a half. If she goes down because she's just plain worn down, and Amari has only 1:30 combined playing time, the UConn ship is sunk.

Back 2 Sports: Class of 21 and 22 are a disaster

My issue with the playing time is that when we are beating teams by 30+ points, why not put her in for the 4th quarter, instead of the last 30 seconds? So UConn only wins by 25 instead of 40? Same with Ines. She agreed to come to UConn when the team was in deep trouble, injury wise. She...

Top 3 Things You Want To See Sunday Against North Carolina

    Who is the point guard?

My wife and I both noticed the difference when Paige takes the ball upcourt, as opposed to both Nika and KK. So sorry to hear this. That is why I think that she and Paige should use their covid year and stay at UConn beyond their 4 years. With their history of injuries, they would be wise to get their Masters degrees for free. Besides that, they probably can't afford the pay cut they would get...
