Yes—I was intending to reply to a comment that was made about Q. Misplaced this one.

    UConn-Villanova postgame

In the presser, Geno talked about teaching her that there are other great ways to contribute and earn increased playing time besides shooting.

Wasn’t meaning that the number comparison was off. More that there were weird inconsistencies in what they were calling.

    UConn-Villanova postgame

Totally agree on the sideline take down of Edwards. Geno’s history is to not play someone when he’s sending a message. Especially if he’s not happy with their practice. Could be the case with Ice.

Olsen was bumping her the entire game. I’m not surprised she reacted. Calls were very uneven in this game.

UConn - Notre Dame post game

Nika “took the game off”? A step too far with those words.

She may have in the past, but that’s just speculation if she had been out there last night.

Especially when she likes driving Right and they kept letting her go Right.

    How good is UConn really

Major? Would love to believe that. She has shown a bit more spark in the past two games, but is still contributing minimally.

Does anyone have any info regarding Aubrey's condition?

Plenty of 22-year-olds look to their parents for counsel.

Many? A small number. Weird one with Ashlyn not aware the ball was coming to her.

And also not taking any longer shots where defense was sagging off of her. Earlier in the season. she was taking some of those shots.

UCONN - UNC Post game thread

Seemed like Geno had them focused on using up clock in the final quarter to an extent that resulted in the “sleepwalking.”

    UConn-Ball State postgame presser

If the first years are “the least of his problem,” and he’s happy with Aaliyah, who is he focused on? Paige? Nika? Aubrey?

    Ball St Postgame Thread

I think she has a better shot than Kia ever developed. And don’t really agree on Q. She shoots well when set and when she has plenty of time. Her rushed shots can be way off.

Your first sentence perfectly captures the whole presser. Spot on.

    Geno's Frustration

Agree 100% on those drives and Paige then tumbling. I was watching Clark in a game recently with drives and contact by defenders, but she was not ending up on the floor. Different body types.

    Shade versus Arnold

Her driving ability is excellent and and it is an offensive threat. As someone else pointed out, her drives caused some of their bigs to pick up fouls which forced them to sit. She’s fearless driving in and will learn to avoid being blocked by taller players.

Geno Calls Out Paige for Poor Play

I mostly agree with you, but when there are no other players reliable draining shots, the defensive focus on her is constant and intense. I wish she would drive less and find more jumpers, as you said.

    UCLA postgame

I was surprised by Edwards’ play in this game. She was battling for a lot of rebounds that just didn’t go her way. But offensively, she was almost invisible. She is capable of a nice jumper from just outside the lane and barely took any and also wasn’t hitting the few she took. Hoping for a...

    UCLA postgame

I think their focus on shutting off the big girls inside—doubling them—made it hard to recover on the three point shooters waiting on the wing.

    Disappointment

Agreed, and I think Edwards was surprised at the blocks to a couple of her inside attempts.

UCONN - NC State post mortem thread

“Unranked” but clearly should have been ranked. I don’t agree that the entire team is “slow.” They defiitely had a very off game.

UCONN - NC State post mortem thread

Parity. This is a very different time from the “used to” period in UCONN women’s basketball. It’s amazing to see the skill set of so many first year players.

Does This "Stuff" by Paige Count As Layups?

I noticed both times that she kept her left, taped thumb hand off the ball as she went strong. May have something to do with that as well.

Can One Player Win a Championship All By Themselves?

I think influencing the outcome of the championship game as Carson did does mean more than great play earlier in the tourney. Everything on the line.

    Iowa beats South Carolina!

DT is not the only one it has happened to. I’m just reacting to the claim that the easier of a great player is being able to put yr team on yr back and win this type of game. I don’t view the others on Iowa as deadly shooters. It’s Clark and her big who score must of their points, game in and...

    Iowa beats South Carolina!

Boston did not have a great game. But one game does not define a player. I remember Taurasi crying after a playoff game when she could not hit a shot—wanted to put the team on her back, but just not her night. It happens.
