The transfers which Texas coaches have followed on social media include Kyla Oldacre, Raegan Beers, and Cameron Williams. These follows were all before any of the four Texas post players announced their intentions to transfer out. So, perhaps the Texas coaching staff already knew their plans.
Amina Muhammad is a very unique player. Not many 6'4 players have her athleticism, motor, speed and length. Muhammad began the season as the Texas starter at PF due to Gaston getting injured in the scrimmage, and Aaliyah Moore still not cleared to play after her ACL rehab. When all 3 players...
Well, seems that she did take an official to Texas last Wednesday-Friday with Laila Phelia. Cameron had been visiting Baylor days before.
While that visit seemed odd at the time, it makes sense now that Herron and Muhammad joined Gaston as Texas frontcourt players deciding to transfer out.
It was noticed on Instagram pretty quickly after Beers went into the portal that 2-3 Texas assistant coaches started following Raegan Beers. And, Beers followed Rori Harmon on IG, and vice versa. But, the only substantial thing recently is that Beers visited Oklahoma this past weekend.
On...
It's not even debatable. Rori Harmon will run the point, and Booker can spell her when necessary. Laila will play mainly SG and some SF. Booker wants to return to her natural SF position badly, but can play any of the 3 positions when called upon.
Texas definitely could use more 3-point shooters. But, a greater need was another player who could create their own shot; Texas didn't really have that last season after Rori Harmon went down other than Madison Booker. So, adding Phelia accomplishes that, IMO. She shot the 3-pointer really...
With Shaylee Gonzales graduating, the starting shooting guard spot is (technically) open.
I honestly have never seen her play (where I paid attention). From the highlights I just watched, she seems like a very physical and aggressive scorer who's not afraid of contact as she drives the lane...
Anyone hearing anything about Laila Phelia's destination? I see her Instagram account has her following some Texas and LSU players/coaches and vice versa.
I know most of the rumors had Scott going to LSU. With Zaay choosing Alabama and Scott choosing Auburn, I am (selfishly) glad to see the talent being spread around . . . :p
I can see Iriafen going to a program that already has a true Center so she can play alongside her and focus on the power forward spot instead of being needed to play mainly at Center. UCLA comes to mind; not sure who they have at PF alongside Betts.
Not sure a "reason" has been given. Considering how much improvement she made the last year, we know it's not an issue of development. I bet it has to do with wanting to see what NIL is out there for her . . .
Well, players select a school for different reasons. Perhaps several selected OSU to play about 20 games annually against PAC schools. That is no longer going to happen.
Neither went through Senior Day ceremonies. Shay Holle actually made a comment in a post-season press conference that implied she was returning for her fifth season. Gaston is assumed to be returning, but you never know until she confirms it in some way.
Thanks for that tidbit. I have to admit I never had known that Beers had considered Texas (and Baylor) out of high school seems like she committed to OSU in her junior year and one year before national signing day November 2021. I did a web search, and there is a pay article from the Albany...
Yep. The pool of elite recruits who have the Lady Vols as their "childhood favorite" or "dream program" will have dwindled to almost zilch if the new head coach doesn't turn things around quickly.
