Makes sense that UConn picked up their recruitment of Dwayne Aristode from Brewster who is playing with Expressions this spring. Class of '25.
Pretty sure that Abdou Toure is playing on the same team as Aristode. Nigel James (LuHi) should be on that same Expressions team.
I think most second rounders would be excited to get a 2-way, so in many ways this is a better outcome going to a team that really wants him and that he is choosing.
He also has a 6’10” wingspan and, if I remember correctly, a 45” vertical. It is crazy to say a longer, more explosive Dyson, but that’s what it seems like
Best recruiting call ever. You were 100% right about AK.
adding to your achievements:
58.5% 2PT-FG% … the only reason his overall FG% is ”low” is because he takes so many 3’s.
127.1 Offensive Rating (which is actually higher than Zack Edey)
Alex’s efficiency is absolutely bonkers for a...
Hopefully Karaban’s success helps with Expressions. I think Luke Murray has a strong relation with them as well. They have a lot of talent and since BABC left Nike, Expressions is the only game in town for EYBL. on3 updated their rankings and Joson Sanon is now their #4 player (class of 2025)...
Let me start by saying I love Alex, not trying to knock him. The players might have been taller than 6’10”, but he struggled against the bigs from Oregon and one other game.
He was actually really good against Dixon in the last game and better, in my mind, than Sanogo against him.
My big takes about the depth are:
1. Different bench weapons will contribute on different nights based on matchup
2. We can press like crazy and put some fear in other teams. Nova pulled up on at least 3 on 1 when they saw that the 1 back was Clingan. HD, NA, JH, AJ and DC is a scary press!

The name that keeps popping into my head is Michael Kidd-Gilchrist from his year at Kentucky. Absolutely phenomenal player who was their engine to win it all (not Anthony Davis). Andre is better at assisting his teammates but a very similar vibe.
The craziest aspect of UConn’s Kenpom stats:
43% of our shots are 3-pointers and only 27% of opponents shots are 3’s (and they only hit 28%).
64% of our baskets are assisted and only 38% of opponents baskets are assisted,
we force opponents into a lot of unassisted 2-point shots
Duncanville is ranked #2 by MaxPreps and Newton led the entire way until Castle fouled out (on a charge then block within a short time in the 4th quarter). Lots of NBA 3’s and bully-ball drives by Castle. Very impressive.
There is a lot to like about him, but two that I like the best:
1) opponent puts a shot up and his first instinct is to put a body on the other team.
2) he knows how to carve out space and keep the ball away from the defense (even double teams)... e.g. he can actually pass out of a double team...
NBA needs to amend the CBA and get rid of 1-and-done immediately. This has obviated the notion that the expected 1-and-done players were amateurs for their 1 year.
NCAA needs to then allow players to be paid.
That said, they also need to clean house for those that were buying players.
He definitely needs to improve his handle, especially going right, but what I saw is someone who is ideal in a 2pg system: he can nail the open 3; after some else drives and kicks, he should be able to attack to assist on an easy basket or a 3 for someone else; and he has that instinct to create...
Assuming Mama didn't' grow since then, his 8'11" standing reach is only 2-4" from our most heralded bigs (other than Thabeet) Bigger question for me is whether he can regain his explosiveness. based on the game videos of him, he seemed to jump very quickly (hints of Elton brand fast) and dunk...
This is exactly the sort of player who can both provide key minutes to neutralize another teams shooter who goes off for a career game (sound familiar) and prepare our primary guards for cincy-like defense (or Kansas in 2016 NCAA) which extends past the three point line and kills our offense...
Of note, however, is that he badmouthed a couple of those guys publicly because he didn't want them to leave... Grant and Richardson come to mind, but probably not a complete list...
This is a problem with the salary cap / collective bargaining...
Harrison Barnes was terrible in the playoffs... He gets $24mm per year from Dallas and GSW get KD for $27mm. They should be allowed to pay superstars more but with a bad cap hit to go to a new team.
I agree... the player that he reminds me of in terms of explosiveness and wingspan, while being on the short side for a big, is Elton Brand (someone might correct me but I think he was actually 6'6" or 6'7" barefoot). Brand wasn't that tall but could dunk everything and seemed to jump faster...
