NOW can we talk starting lineup? (Merged thread)

When Geno has depth which he will have next year, the starting 5 doesn't really matter. Geno loves to use a "game changer," off the bench and that player is usually a freshman. It wouldn't be unusual for that 6th player off the bench to get more minutes than some of the starters. I love...

Two matters from our Orange friends

If Crystal Dangerfield had gone to Tennessee she would not have been to 3 final fours already. Whether or not she will be one of the very very few recent UCONN players that will leave without a ring has yet to be determined.

UConn vs ND in the second game on Friday night

Just curious if anyone knows how many late semi final games UCONN has won as opposed to the earlier semi final games? I think Geno would much rather prefer they play the earlier games based on comments he's made in the past. I think this game is a toss up and I am hoping they will be able to...

    Megan Walker

So glad to see her play one of her best games when it mattered most. A lot of other players might have packed their bags after playing such a limited role and number of minutes during her Freshman season. Its great to see that things worked out for her. Its not always the case even when some...

Oregon vs Miss State (merged thread)

I agree. Mississippi State definitely got the short end of the stick. That being said, Oregon and Notre Dame to me seem like the team to beat. I would give Oregon the advantage. They seem to be on a mission and the least vulnerable.

    Holly Warlick - She's Gone

If you believe the rumors it sounds like Jeff Walz will be the Lady Vols next coach and it is pretty much a done deal. I don't think they would be wasting his time if they weren't willing to pay him the $$$.

    Holly Warlick - She's Gone

According to the Lady Vol message board, it is between Waltz and Ivey. Most of the Lady Vol fans on their message board seem to want Waltz since he has head coaching experience.

    Jordan Horston

If the new head coach for TN is Waltz, do any of his committs from Louisville follow him to Tennessee? Assuming all 4 of TN's committs for next year's class stay, I don't think TN would have any more scholarships available. I don't believe any of Louisville's recruits for next years class had...

Who gets the ball crunch time / Pheesa or Lou

Does Pheesa or Lou take the last shot in a tie game? Will it depend on the match ups or which one has the hotter hand? Or do you put the ball is CW's hands if she is on fire and playing like she did against ND. It would be interesting to see how the players react and respond although we'd all...

    Holly Warlick - She's Gone

I'm glad for Holly's sake, this is over. If anyone reads the Lady Vol message board, they really had no choice but to let her go. It would have been impossible for her to return. Did Tennessee do the right thing and at least buy her out of her contract. I had actually started feeling sorry...

    Oregon State

They were lucky to squeak past Boise St (the officials helped bail them out at the end) and they don't look much better tonight. I think either UCLA or Maryland would have easily beat them. Louisville should have no trouble with either Gonzaga or Oregan State.

The UCONN team that beat ND earlier in year

Can they get back to that same level during the Big Dance? They sure seemed to be firing on all cyclinders on that day didn't they. My biggest concern is that I am not sure this TEAM can sustain or keep that level of play for 2 or 3 games in a row. Lets hope Geno still has a few tricks up his...

Which # 1 Seed do we want / don't want?

I know its still very early. If we are destined to be a #2 seed which #1 would you pick to face? Or is it a already a given we will meet ND in Albany? I say anyone except ND or Baylor.

Of all UCONN Freshman was Maya most consistent

We all know what Stewie did her Freshman year in the Final Four and NCAA Tournament. However, Stewie also had her ups and downs throughout her first season and had the luxury of coming off the bench. Other great UCONN players such as Diana Taurasi, and Shea also came off the bench during their...

Not to be negative, but... Mikayla Coombs

I think Coombs can best help the team if Geno decides to press.

    Coaching Hot Seat Poll

If Sylvia Hatchell were to leave NC, I wonder if Shea Ralph would be given the opportunity? She is from North Carolina and I have no doubt she would be able to help turn that program around.

    Notre Dame (1) @ Tennessee - 1/24/19

Michelle doesn't get that Lady Vol fans will not be satisfied unless they become an ELITE program again. By elite they want to be back in the Top 5 and have a shot or at least be a contender for the NC like UCONN, Notre Dame and now Louisville. There are better coaches out there that can...

    Reality Check

This team reminds me of the years with Ann Strother, Barb Turner and Wilnett Crockett. That team had to grind out their wins. I still remember they were one bucket away from making the Final Four before losing to Duke. I hope this team will have more and better luck on their side.

    Postgame: Too much[merged thread]

For all those who think the 5 starters can do it alone. Well here you go. The BENCH will decide and determine how far this team will go in the NCAA tournament. On any given day, one or two starters might have an off night or get into foul trouble. In years past and in most of Geno's...

That was good for us, right?

I think this game proves how important the BENCH will be if this team is going to win a NC. The starters can't do it alone. 1 or 2 BENCH players will need to step up and provide solid relief. It might only have to be for small stretches at a time and it might change depending on the opponent...

The Challenge of Playing two BIGs at the same time

I miss the other 3 BIGS: Cash, Jones and Williams. None was taller than 6'2. Swin Cash was the smallest of the 3 but played much bigger than her size. I wouldn't count her out underneath the glass against most other taller post players. Size isn't always everything.

OK the euphoria is over. Now I worry about ...

I can't help but agree. Lets hope everyone stays healthy. Next year will be interesting to see who the 5th starter will be. And who will be the first player or two off the bench.

Any chance someone else besides Liv might be ready later in the season to help contribute minutes in a big game? Will a 6 player rotation be enough come tournament time

Geno Offers His Rationale & Still POed

The biggest irony here is that Tennessee ended the series to punish UCONN and they thought it would hurt their program as far as recruiting. It ended up backfiring. One can only wonder if Tennessee would have been better off not canceling the series. I am not sure if they will ever again be a...

Title Game will be UConn vs winner of ND & SC

I am not worried about Notre Dame. They might not make it past Maryland. If Jewell Loyd had returned for her Senior Year, they would have given UCONN a close game, although UCONN would have still pulled it out at the end. That would have been the only way they could have kept the game...

    Nadine Domond in the news

Nadine Domond's loss was Rita Williams gain. Had Domond chosen UCONN, I am not so sure Geno would have still gone after Rita Williams. If Nadine had chosen UCONN, I believe some of those close loses to TENN in the NCAA tournament could have gone the other way. I think Domond's highly...

    Diamond Deshields officially to Tennessee

One of the best things that ever happened was the Summitt going dark... Their site deserves to remain hidden from public view. I think Diamond transferring to Tennessee works in our favor. Had Diamond stayed at UNC, they would have been a threat to make the final four the next three years...

"ND tired of being overshadowed by UConn

I would love nothing more than both UCONN and Notre Dame make it to the title game. I predict a nail biter. As long as we can avoid any injuries or foul trouble, I believe any team other than Notre Dame is a sure thing for UCONN to win their 9th Championship. I still want to see Notre Dame...

John A. with some interesting scheduling news

So glad Notre Dame is back on the schedule. They would have given UCONN the most competitive game this season. The last few ND games on CBS were exciting to watch and reminded me of dare I say that other rivalry that is now long gone. Glad the rivalry will continue. Does anyone know if the...
