    RIP Jessica Walter

80 years old. I’ll never forget her in “Play Misty For Me.”

OT: Sean Connery has died. [merged thread]

90 years old. What a year for passings.

    RIP Rhonda Fleming

For many of us our youths are passing right before our eyes of late. 97. I remember Bennet Cerf on What’s My Line kept hoping she would appear and kept guessing her incorrectly until she finally appeared. She made a lovely impression that night as a person and visually.

Ossining up on Monroe Woodbury at halftime.

32-14. Griffin leading scorer with 20 points.

    OT: RIP James Ingram

If this was posted somewhere else on the board my apologies but he was something. Far too young to leave us. So many hits.

    RIP Willie McCovey.

Died today. 80 years old. A childhood memory of mine is the Giants had a 3 game series with the Mets at Shea Stadium. McCovey homered all 3 games! In those days my dad had access to tickets through his job and I saw all 3 games in person. The first game he homered off Seaver. Koosman the second...

    OT: The Last Jedi

I have to ask. How many boneyarders are going Friday night for the Last Jedi? The word of mouth from the premiere is very good. I must confess to having my ticket.

    OT: Yankees land Stanton!

I know you may move this thread, Nan, but this is huge! Just wanted to alert the other Yankee posters we have the modern day bash brothers now!

Ossining plays in Troy Friday night.

Shendehowa versus Baldwin is the 6:15 game per Shen's website. Anyone plan on going tomorrow night to Hudson Valley CC?

    NYS women's high school tournament

The dates at Hudson Valley Community College this year are March 17-19 in case you're planning on seeing Ossining (hopefully)play in Troy.

OT - R.I.P. Carrie Fisher & Debbie Reynolds (updated thread)

Heart issue. Seems to be very serious.

    RIP Dwayne Pearl Washington

Syracuse great Dwayne Pearl Washinton lost his battle with a brain tumor at age 52. I actually got to see him play in person for the NYC all-star team versus Long Island. He was MVP that night. A NYC playground legend. Much too young.

    Olivia Owens

A while back Nan posted an article about Geno going to Albany, N.Y. to watch Olivia Owens of Niskayuna High School play. I recently got to see Olivia play Saratoga Springs in person and had some thoughts about her. Olivia is 6'3", athletic and very strong physically. Not bulky, but strong...

    Alan Rickman has died.

Rough week. First David Bowie and now Alan. Very sad.

O.T. Star Wars the Force Awakens.

Alright! How many of us have tickets already? I'm going the night before the general release date.

    OT: American Pharaoh!

What a way to go out! The Zayat family conducted themselves so well and shared him with us all. Thank you!

    Colgate game.

Is anyone considering making the road trip to Colgate, and in terms of First Night, does the arena totally fill up? How hard is it to get in? Thank you.

    Frank Gifford has died.

They haven't said what caused his passing, only that it was sudden.

    Shout out to Ronda Rousey!

You go, girl! "How can something so pretty hurt so much?".

    Ken stabler has died.

RIP, snake. Colon cancer at age 69.

For those coming to Albany next weekend.

If UConn draws the noon game and you're not all that interested in the second game, the Albany mens lacrosse team will be playing UMass Lowell at 3 pm at SUNY Albany. It's only about a 10 minute drive from the Times Union Arena and you could see Lyle Thompson play. He is on target to break the...

OT: Hockey great Jean Beliveau has passed away.

Keith Olberman has a tribute to him on ESPN that will get you misty eyed if you lived in Jean's era. When he retired he was the second leading scorer behind Gordie Howe all-time. He played on 10 Stanley Cup winners, yet he may well have been a greater man. Class and elegance.

    OT: Xfinity the lawre

If I might ask for some advice on a non-basketball matter. My 18 year old son and 3 friends will be driving down for the Dave Matthews concert July 12th at the Xfinity, and I would prefer they not drive the 2 1/2 hours back to upstate New York after the show. They will take the 91 North to...

Will the one post do Orb in Saturday?

I'm not certain it will. He has underrated tactical speed and no gate issues. I suspect he'll tuck into the first turn and take a position about 5 lengths back. I think the only risk is a very speed favoring track where an uncontested pace horse could be hard to run down, but I think Shug &...

Chong leads Ossining into Section Semis

There is a great article by Ryan Buncher on Saniya, who plays today at 4:45 in the NYS Section 1 semifinal against Ursuline. She is now the all-time scoring leader Section 1 with 2761. She averages 35.1 points per game, has made 77 3 point shots and has made 176 of 201 free throw attempts-88...

    Breanna & the NYS Tournament.

I know it's early & this doesn't pertain to many posters, but for anyone planning on travelling to attend the NYS High School Championships to see Breanna play in person they will be held at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, N.Y. again from March 16-March 18th. Assuming Breanna & Cicero...

EDD profiled in this week's Sports Illustrated.

It really is touching when they speak of Elena's relationship with her sister Lizzie, who is described as functioning at the level of an infant and who was the primary reason EDD went back home. Born deaf, blind with Cerebral Palsy, EDD said about Lizzie "Remember, if I don't have physical...
