What I think is irrelevant.
The Big East teams that were left out had too many warts on the season resume.
Those that did well enough in the non-conference schedule faltered too much in conference, and vice versa. That plus the dominance of the top 3 sealed the conference fate.
It's...
This is gonna be an unpopular opinion, but the Big East only got 3 teams in the dance because only 3 teams from the Big East were good enough to make the dance.
On the bright side, those three teams are all highly seeded and each should earn multiple tournament credits for the league.
I admit I'm oversimplifying it, but sometimes a player's impact extends beyond the numbers. Henefeld was the spearhead of a very specially built team designed to panic you into strings of turnovers. It's arguable that style was only possible because of his unique combination of skills.
I am at peace with this loss.
It still sucked, but we were due.
Also... Sometimes something clicks in the mind of an opponent and they, as a team, just get in a zone. Ashworth was in that zone and his vibe carried the whole team. They fed off him and it lifted all of them. How can you stop...
The rest of the world doesn't exist when a UConn game is on.
I hope my wife never chokes during gametime because I don't know how I'd explain it to the coroner.
I got a bad feeling about this one.
The mojo has grown murky and mysterious. A foreboding heaviness weighs in the air like a sultry summer's day on the verge of a downpour.
Only it's not humidity hanging in the air...it's fate.
Your bravado belies an underlying insecurity. A little self reflection could help you understand your insecurity and then maybe find more effective ways to cope. I can imagine being a Providence fan would strain anyone's self esteem, no shame admitting that...
I disagree completely here. I don't think it's safe to assume all teams react the same way to mismatches. In fact, I contend the opposite, and playing walk-ons is just one confounding factor of many.
This is where my disagreement with the methodology lies.
The predictive power of mismatches drops off much faster than he allows. There's endless reasons outside of the sphere of maximizing performance that a game ends with "only" a 25 point win versus a 50 point win.
There's another aspect of...
I don't know how many people will understand this nuance, but...
Calling models like Kenpom and Torvik "predictive" is wrong. The term you're looking for is "indicative," because those models are not even structured in a way that predictions can be made without adding further logic to the data...
The attention being paid to Bronny does feel kinda off-the-wall random. I get that his father is a legend, but he's certainly not the first legend's son to take the stage.
Why this famous athlete's kid?
Is this purely the phenomenon of the social media age?
To me it would be similar to...
McDermott is a really likeable guy.
It's hard to work up proper disdain for Creighton when their head coach acts like your favorite uncle in interviews.
I'm not sure how many years he has left coaching, but he's going to be a real bitch for the Blue Jays to replace.
